La Tuillerie, Country House, St Pe St Simon Nerac
La Tuillerie, Country House, St Pe St Simon Nerac Area France
In my opinion; this Country house (not luxurious) falls way short of the advertised detail, potentially the house should be the 'magnificent', 'stunning' property as described, set in good grounds with a decent pool area and lovely Armagnac countryside, however the positives end there as the house has not been completed to anything like the advertised standard and was a huge disappointment.
The statement 'the house has been renovated to the highest standards' needs to be challenged, exposed plasterboard, prominent expanding foam, poor decoration and signs of unfinished internal building work are evident in many places throughout. This location only provides a relaxing holiday if the weather is sufficiently good to keep you out of the house all day as the interior is uncomfortably dirty and ill equipped.
From a distance the house appears stunning, close up; it is a very different story
'Luxurious Fixtures and Fittings' (Advert Quote..); absolutely not.
Dirty oven, that didn't work.
Hob worked only partially with a particularly dangerous, gas leaking center burner.
Main Bathroom Shower was prone to a slight flood (although you were instructed to lay down extra towels and a mop is placed conveniently in the corner...), shower in Master Bedroom simply flooded..
Tap broken with hand written message instructing 'do not use'
Sheets, Quilts and Pillows were horrible, ill matching, stained and smelly
Carpets splattered with stains and loosely treaded in several areas.
3 rooms were so smelly and dirty, I simply shut the doors and didn't use them for the entire let.
I personally felt uncomfortable with the cleanliness and found myself constantly cleaning.
I came across 5 dead mice in the kitchen throughout the week
The lounge (described as 'beautiful') was so grubby I felt the need to remove the rug, cushions and scrub the sofa 3 times before I could use the room.
To summarize I have been travelling to SW France for nearly a decade and have stayed in 9 properties; this house was by far the worst in terms of fixtures and fittings and cleanliness and I feel that the property is substantially over priced, underprepared and unsuitably for a Family holiday.
Indoor Camping rather than luxury would be my description and I would recommend anyone to seek alternative accommodation as the price band will give you plenty of scope to let a perfectly good, clean house with equal or better surroundings and customer service
