Rented a house via them - it was very stressful. We were told the contract is for two years. Landlord was told the contract is a short notice one (he wanted to sell). Ended up signing two different copies, and on the day we moved in 'For sale' sign appeared and other agency called to collect a key for viewings - of course I refused.

This was escalated in their organization to their Managing Director, no-one offered an apology, they were just telling lie after lie after lie and tried to convince me to allow the viewings 'as the house will not sell anyways'.

Disgusting. Steer clear.

I think in our hearts we always knew Madison were going to be a pain from the moment we moved in and they only gave us two full sets of keys between three tenants. Our only consolation was that the flat's owner thought they were a money-grubbing bunch of cowboys as well, and asked us to go straight to her with any problems.

Unfortunately, going to the owner with maintenance issues meant that we ended up with a ham-fisted handyman coming round to 'fix' things (and usually leaving them in a worse state than he found them). Perhaps we shouldn't blame Madison entirely for this, but we've got more than enough rage to go around after a year of this nonsense.

In addition to sharing two sets of keys between three of us for a few months, we spent the entire month of December with no heating - Madison only got in touch on the subject in the New Year after a burst pipe flooded next door's garage. Nice that they were so pro-active about other people's property, but it would have been nice if they took a vague interest in ours.

On a 12 month lease, we were being harrassed to confirm whether we would be staying in the property when it still had three months left to run (the woman even said: "We chase two months in advance" when there were over three months to go).

When we decided we were going to leave, agents repeatedly demanded to come round and view the flat with only a couple of hours notice. They then often failed to turn up, ruining our evening plans on a number of occasions.

We took a certain pleasure in the fact that they have failed to re-let the flat following our departure. But perhaps that means that we're just the most gullible flathunters in SW London for taking the place at all?

The staff are often horribly rude, but they also seem to be stuck in a very fast revolving door, so not much point in naming names - they've probably already gone to the scrapheap of incompetent lettings agents (assuming that's not an oxymoron).

Deposit deductions included a repair bill for a shower door which we reported as broken within the first month of our tenancy (it wasn't even broken, just needed rehanging), and for a TV bracket reported as missing but which was left in plain sight inside a wardrobe (to keep it out of the way for the professional cleaners we booked).

Rude, flaky and with ridiculous staff turnover levels, if I ever have to rent out my own property, I would sooner burn it to the ground than let these incompetent idiots anywhere near it.

Used Madison Lettings to rent my properties, they charged me all different prices for the tenants to move in so much that they forgot what they charged the last time. They have a complete lack of experiance, would never use them again! Very unprofessional stay clear!

Had the worst year of my life with this company...used to be run by a lovely lady called Jenny but she left (no surprise there). No managed by the most incompetent and unprofessional staff I have ever come across.

They are fantastic at managing rented properties....providing you do not ask them to do anything! Any phone call made to ask for assistance to fix something is seen as a frivolous complaint and they only operate if you send them an email (sorry a whole chain or emails chasing them to do something). If you do not like making complaints and getting stressed do not go with this company.

Rude, stupid and only good at collecting rent money.

If you rent a managed property of this agent then all I have to say is do not complain and you will be fine - Good luck!

Do not use Maddison to manage your rental property. They are completely useless. They do not act when they should, and when they do their action is usually not what is needed. Communication is abysmal and they seem to avoid answering their phones, and when they do they are occasionally rude. Save yourself a lot of grief and stay well clear of these cowboys!

Disgracesful customer serive, we constantly chased them for contracts for tenancy. We had no updates throughout the process and no one had the decency to cotnact us to inform us of any changes.

After signing terms and conditions and paying the holding deposit we still had not received a tenancy agreement.

4 days before we were supposed to move into the property we called Manisons Lettings and were informed that there was a change of circumstance and the property was no longer available, leaving us homeless.

The director then denied knowing who we were and could not accomodate us in a new property

We had to take 3 days off work to find a new property as a matter of urgency

They also wanted to charge us a adminstation fee and according to Madison's lettings website they offer a free service to tenants

absolutely disgusted at their level of service at the Wimbledon branch. Completely useless, couldnt even get the number of the flat right. Had to chase them every step of the way. Told us the wrong rent and accepted our offer without actually asking the landlord so when it came to the week before moving in they upped the price we had to pay by £100 a month.. and they decided to ask us for fee's too!
