Yorkshire Bank Fixed Rate Mortgage

We are a medium sized business, moved our banking, business & personal mortgages & health care to YB from LoydsTSB. Great service until 2012. The Bank of Australia who own YB must have put the pressure on YB to get rid of low margin customers or anyone who they weren't making good money on, probably in order to sell YB.

We signed a fixed 10yr mortgage in 2010 so when rates increased we would be safe as a business, 3 wks ago YB relationship Managers visited us to tell us that unless we agreed to a 1% increase (50k over the remaining 8yrs) then we would loose our overdraft facility and would be placed in a box at their HQ and forgotten about! Nice customer service YB!

After walking out of the meeting feeling that I had been blackmailed, I wrote a letter of complaint to YB, 2 wks later I received an email response telling me tough, like it or lump it.

2 hrs after receiving the email and at 3pm on a friday I received a call from our relationship mgr telling me that unless I signed the 1% increase email he was sending me and returned it to him by end of play Monday, my business would have its overdraft withdrawn on the Tuesday morning!

We have never defaulted, missed a payment etc... 90% of the time we operate well within the black. Plain and simply YB want an extra £50k out of a 10yr fixed mortgage we agreed in 2010 and they're prepared to blackmail me in to giving it to them by threatening to withdraw our overdraft.

Unbelievable! Beware don't ever put all your eggs in one basket with Yorkshire Bank! They will use it against you to screw you for every penny they can to pay themselves huge bonuses with I imagine.

Luckily we are moving our business banking to RBS & LloydsTSB securing a new OD using equity in other properties, others would of had no choice but to hand over the 50k.

Stay well clear of Yorkshire Bank.
