Value For Money
Fantastic
I cannot recommend Tesco Mortgages enough. From the very first application they were superb.
You could do lots of it online, which was so helpful, but they were always happy to talk things through with you over the phone if you have any queries.
Everything was dealt with so quick and communication was great. The day they received all our paper work they texted to confirm, they sent back bank statements the very next day and we had an official offer the day after.
There was no problem from my solicitor's side when he was receiving the money, and again they texted me to confirm they had transferred the funds to our solicitor's account.
Two weeks after we moved in we also received a parcel from them. It was a cool bag containing lots of household bits (tea, coffee, toilet roll, biscuits, cleaning cloths etc) to help us settle in.
Overall fantastic experience.
Agree In Principle, Take Fee Then Decline Application
I would not recommend Tesco Bank to anyone for a mortgage. We were looking to remortgage, after much searching I decided Tesco Bank offered what seemed to be the best deal. I submitted an online application filling in all income and expenditure etc. They came back and said that according to their affordability calculation, the loan value I wanted could not be paid back over the term applied for (even though the repayments were coming out over £100 less than I am paying on my current mortgage). Anyway, they made a counter offer of the original requested loan amount over a longer period of time than I originally requested. I agreed, the application was resubmitted and they came back with an agreed Decision in Principle offer. They than asked me to pay the Application Fee of £195. I asked the advisor if there was any reason the mortgage wouldnt go through if I paid this, he told me that as long as all the figures I had given in my original application were correct and could be backed up on documents they would ask me to submit and that the valuation came back to the value I had valued the property at, there should be no issue. I paid the fee and arranged a valuation. The valuation was completed and came back with the same value as I had valued the property at. In the meantime, I submitted all documents that I had been asked for to both Tesco Bank and their appointed solicitor. I received all the documents back a few days later then heard nothing for 3 weeks. I then rang Tesco Bank myself to ask where the application was up to only to be told that the application had been rejected. I asked on what grounds and was told it was bank account conduct and that they couldnt elaborate any further than that. I asked if there was anyone I could get any further feedback from, they told me there wasnt. All payments on my statements had been declared on my initial application and could be accounted for and any overdraft which was used was approved. I asked why I had not been notified about this and they said they had tried to call me (no missed calls on my mobile from them), and that as a rule, they wouldnt send a letter to notify me of this.
I was 100% up front with them from the start, making sure I gave them all information they asked for. There was nothing on my bank statements that I hadnt already declared before they took their fee. So to take the fee then reject the application without giving a specific reason makes me feel like i've been totally ripped off.
I would not recommend Tesco Bank to anyone who hasnt got money to throw away.
Don't Mortgage With Tesco
Started normal quote online and was the best as i was shopping around for mortgage on my own to save some money out of using an advisor .. Done the application and send all documents required and they return it back but not long after they declined my application and they didn't send me letter was by phone as i asked them to send me the reason of decline by post and the reason they made it up after i payed fees up front and the valuation fees as well as they said they will not look to my application unless pay the fees not like the others!!! But i didn't stop in that point i took the case forward and see what will happen .. But i don't recommend it for any one
