Bungled Insurance Payments
Provident insisted on having an escrow account for the property taxes and insurance payments. For the insurance, they paid only the first installment, claiming that the insurance was paid in full. I told them otherwise. Could not be, they said. In the end, after contacting them twice more, they finally paid the insurance in full. Blamed the insurance agent and claimed ignorance. The fact that I had just told them was immaterial to them, as supposedly only what the insurance company said is relevant, incommunicado or not. To add insult to injury they paid the late fees out of the escrow account, i.e. out of my pocket. When I called customer service, requesting that Provident refund the late fees, given that they stalled on paying even after I urged them to pay, they hung up on me.
What A Nightmare! After Provident Loans
What a nightmare!
After Provident Loans approved my husband and myself for a mortgage (of course, our credit score is close to 800 and we have a hefty down-payment), making us sign all the papers at closing and getting all organized to move into our new home, Provident refused to fund our loan!!!
They had time to review everything before but they suddenly realized they did not want a non-US citizen as a co-borrower (that's me, my husband is American)! My lawyer specialized in immigration even tried to send them a letter explaining how perfectly legal it is for me to live and work here, nothing! Mind you, I even use to own a house here is my name only and never had a problem with my previous mortgage!
It's one thing to refuse right from the start but AFTER THE CLOSING!!! I think this is pure and simple discrimination.
Now, our deposit and closing costs have been cashed, I have to find a new lender, start all the paperwork again, pay more fees to get a new closing date and find a place to live and store our stuff in the meantime!
