I was looking to raise a mortgage in the USA to purchase one or more buy to let properties. I paid a £2500 fee, fully refundable if the company did not source an offer acceptable to me.

After 6 months, the best offer they could present was 10% per annum plus a 7% fee, whilst I had been able to source an offer of 5.5% per annum plus a 1% fee.

Initially I would have been willing to pay a fee of £500 and accept a refund of £2000 in consideration of the work they said they had done, even though they had not complied with the terms of the contract.

They now refuse to take my telephone calls, respond to letters delivered by hand to company or personal addresses and I have issued a statutory demand for the monies owed.

They have received £2500 - I have not received the service that they purported to be able to provide. They refuse to communicate with me and have not defended their action. Decide for yourself whether you would consider doing business on this basis.
