Avoid At All Cost

I puchased annual cover from this company in sept,2011 but while on holiday in june 2012 my mother suddenly passed away.Obviosly i flew straight home and later tried to claim for the flights home.I only claimed £99 x2 for the flights,no taxi fares etc but this claim was refused because i should have forseen that my mother was going to die because she had cancer. If you are not covered for an incident such as this i cannot imagine anything you are covered for! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Do Not Take Out A Policy With Travelinsuranceweb.com

Do NOT take a policy with Travelinsuranceweb.com it will be a waste of money. They have so many exceptions in the small print I doubt there is anything covered. I had my mobile stolen that was not covered "electronic equipement" is not covered, which is a broad area, cameras etc.

Also I took a cruise that was curtailed due to an issue with the boat we were offered a 50% refund unfortunately the company went bankrupt before I received the money and guess what Travelinsuranceweb.com do not cover "bankruptcy/liquidation of a tour operator, travel agent or transport company"

I will never use this company again!

Policy Disriminatory And Absurd

I had to cancel a trip to attend a course in the US last year because my daughter became ill a few days before I was to leave. She wasn't hospitalised, but couldn't be left on her own and there was no-one else to care for her. I rebooked the trip for 6 months later when the course would next be offered, which cost me $703 in cancellation fees and increased airline costs for that time of year. This company kept me waiting on the line and passed me to another number and gave me the run around. Then they found a loophole because although my daughter had tonsillitis and a high temperature (and we discovered later, whooping cough as well), she had been on medication for anxiety and they won't cover for mental illness, albeit as simple as anxiety. I regard this proviso as very discriminatory.

The company was not helpful before they knew about the anxiety meds. Then they tried to avoid me cancelling the insurance in time before the flight was due by telling me to write and wait for a response if I wasn't satisfied. Of course, I'd have to keep the insurance to have any chance of reimbursement. I gave up on them, having no faith they'd come good, and figuring I'd be better to at least have the $86 or whatever it was back, rather than lose that on top of the $703. Not impressed. I'm now looking for cancellation coverage for that rebooked trip.

Ill On Holiday

fell ill on holiday with infected sinusitis and laryngitis , had to call doctor out who prescribe medicines etc, sent claim in by fax same day. the claim was for about £130. I received several abrupt phone calls asking the same questions about flights and who i was travelling with, It crossed my mind that I would struggle to get any money out of this lot. They asked my permission to contact my doctor which I gave. After several more request for my travel itinerary etc which I supplied, they eventually refused my claim as i had had sinusitis previously( not infected). I had gone to the doctors with hay fever and he had given me a nasal spray which is used for sinusitis, and recorded it as sinusitis. This was the excuse this shabby lot wanted. S do not go anywhere near them

Very Disappointed With Claim Response

My Husband and I have had a joint multi-trip annual policy with this company for 4 yrs, renewing it automatically each year. This year when my husband fell ill and was unable to travel we made a claim. I have been very disappointed with their treatment of us,their avoidance tactics and constantly having to chase up progress. Every time I phoned to find out what was happening, there would be another form missing, not showing on the system or not received (even though I sent one signed for). They have finally settled with us 4 mths later, after I got very annoyed and threatened to take it further. No one deliberately cancels holidays without a good reason and do not deserve to be treated this badly.

Avoid Them, Just Like They Avoid Paying Out...

Opted for this company since they were recommended by a Which? test. However, despite being cheap, we strongly recommend against using them after our experiences. Unfortunately we were in Christchurch, NZ at the time of the earthquake and as a result we were evacuated and our luggage trapped in our hotel. As a result, one of our bags with our valuables was stolen from the the hotel and we had to pay to ship the rest around the world after the exclusion zone had been lifted. Additionally we had to buy extra items for the remainder of the trip. Despite there being no explicit wording in the policy excluding natural distasters, we received no compensation whatsoever for any of this. Customer services also very bad - on original contact they suggested that we would be able to claim, making us collect all the required documentation together at significant effort, before then telling us on further contact that 'no, we don't cover that' without even asking which policy we had. Avoid.

Terrible Responses From Rude And Unhelpful Staff.

terrible responses from rude and unhelpful staff. Quoted small print on something that was NOT stated in our policy and misrepresented in our policy. Would not ever reccommend this insurer to anyone and will be taking our claim further as they have sold us a totally useless and pointless cover according to their promise. I would like to have known what their terms were regarding stopovers when selecting world wide cover. They are totally disappointing.

The Insurance Itself Was Very Easy To Purchase And

The insurance itself was very easy to purchase and all the documents etc. were sent to me very quickly so in the beginning I was actually quite impressed with the service. That is until you have to make a claim...

Unfortunately I needed hospital treatment while in Spain but after calling the insurance help line I was advised that I would have to pay the full cost of this myself and then claim it back once I returned home.

The claim form itself was a shambles and very difficult to complete. After sending this and all my supporting documentation they eventually got back to me (a month later!) and asked me to supply more information. This included even more forms which again were a nightmare to complete. I think they try and make it as hard as possible so that you give up trying to claim off of them (which to be honest I was very close to doing).

Anyway after numerous emails and phone calls to their (very unhelpful!) customer service department, they eventually paid out. My hospital treatment cost me almost 500 euros and in the end I managed to claim back just over £150! They are a complete joke. Would have given them zero stars if I could! I would never use these people again and in future will stick to the mainstream insurers (the very nice recepionist at the hospital actually informed me that the Post Office is the best one to use!.

Payed Extra For Medical Conditions Just Before Hol

Payed extra for medical conditions just before holiday one of the party was ill travel insurance web then refused to cover an already declared illness.Contacted several times about a refund as they were not covering that complaint no reply customer services contacted several times still no answer. Avoid these like the plague may be cheap but customer services shocking dont expect to be paid if you do have a claim. If they cant be bothered to answer an email bearing in mind they declare they are an internet run company thier use of email is non existant.

Re: Annual Travel Insurance With Travel Insurance

Re: Annual Travel Insurance with Travel Insurance Web.

To the people who read the reviews, be careful of the 5-star replies, as my guess is that these reviews are based on purchasing the insurance (i.e. a good price and good web site) and not on any subsequent contact with Travel Insurance Web.

I have made a claim and it is now 12 weeks since they confirmed receipt of it (after chasing) and still no further constructive reply from them apart from "we are very busy and it will be another 7-10 days - a reply that I have received three times now!!

Their complaints desk does not reply. I have now written to the Financial Insurance Ombudsman.

We all know that price is not everything, but like me, you are tempted by what appears to be a good price and good insurance cover - but all of that is USELESS if they don't respond to claims.

I will NEVER use this company again!!!
