I Have Just Been Sent My Renewal And They Have Inc

I have just been sent my renewal and they have increased my annual cover by £400. They want £1500 for two mongrel dogs aged 5 and 6. I will not be renewing and am so angry at the greed. One pet had needed two claims for minor injuries. That’s why I have insurance!

John Lewis Masdive Renewal Increase

I have had my 5 year old pug insured with John Lweis since a pup. I have never claimed and my excess was £175, I have just received my renewal notice and it has doubled. I was paying £300 or so year. It has now been increased to £602, OVER £50 per month. I am appalled. I have 3 pugs £150 per month for all 3.

John Lewis' Outrageous Pet Insurance Policy Increase Rip Off

I first insured my Bull Terrier with JL in 2011 for £137, this went to £170 and last year this had increased to £201. I was fairly happy, even to the point of recommending them to family and friends. This year came as a complete shock, the premium is now £601. That is a 300% increase (no claims made)in one year. JL had also enclosed a letter waffling on about a number of factors ie vets fees, dogs age (she is 6) and saying they have made changes to better reflect the market??? Speaking with other owners there seems a common denominator to a lot of these price hikes, insurers have been changing underwriters and those that have gone to Royal Sun Alliance have been massively increasing premiums.

This premium is now higher than my house and car insurances combined.

So bye bye JL, I have also taken the conscious decision not to shop with John Lewis full stop, a bit petty but I feel better for it.

55% Increase After 1 Year And No Claim !! Criminal.

I have just had my first renewal from John Lewis after one year. My premium has gone from £444.60 to a staggering £690.35 an increase of £245.70 a massive 51%. Needless to say after no claim in the last year I will not be renewing this policy. We as a family are very ,very loyal to the brand John Lewis but after this we feel totally Disgusted by this and it has and will continue to affect of future purchase on the high street and supermarket as we will not enter a store again.

Large Price Hike At 1st Renewal

I took out a lifetime policy for my 5yr old spayed female Lancashire Heeler in Oct 12. It seem good value at £202 with a £60 excess. This year at renewal, after no claim and the dog still not considered a 'senior' (i.e. 9 or 10) it has gone up to £332 that's 60%. Even allowing for the initial discount of 10% it's still not far off 50%. Be very wary about using John Lewis. I can't comment on their customer service as I haven't had to use it!!

Premium Increased By 66%!!

First joined John Lewis pet insurance for my labrador in 2011 when he was 2 years old, premium was around £360 a year. The next year it went up to around £420 (from £30/mth to then £35/mth). I thought it was getting a bit expensive but the last time it took me 3 months to look for a 'good' insurance company so I'd rather stay with J.L. Yesterday I received a letter saying it was going to be £51/mth on the next renewal - that is 66% increase since the 1st year. Thank God my lab never has any major health problem so I never need to make a claim - and yet it has increased by 66%!!!!

To be fair, I can't comment on their service since i NEVER use them. But I can't justify how J.L can increase the insurance by 66% no matter what sort of service they are capable to provide.

Very Satisfied Customer

I bought my first ever puppy in december 2011, she was a big blue great dane and she was my world. Unfortunatly she did not seem her self one day and within a week was diagnosed with stage 5 lymphoma. my girl was treated by the best and we even tried chemo although she only managed eleven days untill i had to make the hardest decision. John lewis were always so friendly and helpful and in total i put 5 claims forms away, everything was sorted extremely quickly and i had no problems what so ever which helped me deal with my grief. I will be using john lewis level 4 cover again when i feel it is time for my next best friend :-)

Rubbish Value And Service

Took over 4months for claim to be processed. Kept refusing to acknowledge receipt of vets paperwork. New annual quote received 30percent increase. Were told would not be increased after claims when took policy out. Only claimed £105 after excess . Awful service and attitude on chasing claim and querying increase in quote. Will not be renewing and will open savings account to cover vets bills instead.

Poor Service From John Lewis Pet Insurance

I have been trying since the 30th December to receive compensation for the accidental death of our cat. He was run over.

Initially I was sent a claim form where I had omitted to get the vet to sign to verify death as the Vet had not seen the cat because when we found him rigor mortis had set in so we buried him.

I rang John Lewis pet Insurance and they said they would send me the forms to take to the vet ( my vet was willing to sign even though he hadn't treated the cat,.

The forms never arrived so I rang again. A very unhelpful person told me they had to have the forms and would send them again. They never arrived. I then spoke to a much more helpful person who said he would ring the vet and also the breeder to confirm the amount we paid for the Cat ( abyssinian )

The vet confirmed they had e mailed the form back to this person on 8th February.

I then received a letter saying in very blunt terms that they had not received this form and that the claim was closed!

I rang again to be met with an extremely unhelpful person who refused to put me through to the helpful person and kept repeating that he was unavailable even though he was in the call centre. They also refused to let me speak to a manager or the person who wrote the letter again saying they were unavailable

Jon Lewis Pet Insurance is now run by Capita and I really think John Lewis should review there supplier. I shall be writing to their chief executive.

I buy from John Lewis because I expect a much higher level of customer service than I have received on this ocassion.

I am still waiting for confirmation that this claim is being processed.

No Problems To Report

This is a late review, but as I was here.

We have had our collie insured with JL for 2 years now and never had to claim. When the renewal came up it was almost the same time as we had just got a second dog so I went online to check the costs. They seemed a little more than most, but the coverage was better.

I had some questions about the policy so gave them a call before purchasing and they answered the questions and then were able to offer cheaper quotes for better coverage than I'd found online, saving around £80 over the year. Very happy, hopefully I'll not have to claim, but if I do I'll update the review.
