Be very carefull taking out insurance with these guys! Look at hidden charges; cancellation fees; legal costs ect. The policy itself is fine (no arguements there) - but it can cost serious money to change insurance/get out once you sign up. So please be very very aware and attentive to detail when taking out a policy.

I did find the company a bit slow dealing with a claim - so if you have a problem that requires urgent attention it is best to get your builder to take photographs of the damage/site before any work is done. You will not receive insurance cover if the work has been completed when the inspector visits. This of course should be mandatory with all policies, but alot of people don't realise this or are too distressed by the problem.

There are cheaper policies with less punishing 'get out' clauses; Policy Expert offer a good insurance for £10 less a month and if you are over 50 there may be other deals worth checking out. Always ask your agent about hidden problems/costs as you may find yourself locked into contract with a supplier you are not happy with. I don't believe any one should have these problems when changing insurance; a cancellation charge in excess of £100 is totally unacceptable especially as many people change poilicies to save money. These heavy-handed tactics reflect the banker-style response that often forces people into poverty - its time they were outlawed in a society which is still trying to shelter from the cold winds of austerity.
