Sorting Out New Insurance After Bereavement
I telephoned Pearl today concerning the sad death of my mother and to find out what to do next with regard to her home and contents policy . I was very concerned that the house might now be uninsured. I was quickly put through to the bereavement section and a very sympathetic girl could not have been more helpful.She clearly explained the situation to me and is now arranging a new policy. It was a delight to deal with someone who knows how to deal quickly and efficiently with a necessary but somewhat distressing part of losing a loved one.

Very Un-helpfull When Some-one Died
My advice is don’t use this company especially if you thing you may die whilst your policy is active. I was trying to sort out the affairs of my partner’s mother following her sudden death. Of all the companies I had to deal with Pearl have been the most un-helpful. To start with when I told them about the death they refused to discuss anything unless they could speak to the policy holder due to Data protection. Do I have a phone line to the next world? Eventually after having to phone them again as I had failed the security questions an agent did take the details, said that they were unable to refund any premium paid but assured me that the house insurance would be covered until the renewal date next year. However about two weeks later a letter arrived at the address stating that that the policy details had been changed. The old premium was xxxx then new premium the same amount and the amount due xxxx i.e. the same amount. I phoned them again to query this but again got they can’t discuss it with me as I was not the policy holder. My partner’s brother is still living in the house and the policy had been changed to his name from joint names, but I explained that as I had been told in the initial phone call that there was nothing to pay that he had given me the letter to sort out. All I wanted to know was did he have to pay a new premium or not but again was told they could not discuss it even having spoken to the supervisor due to the dreaded Data protection. My partner’s brother has never had to deal with any of the household bills whilst his mother was alive so is not used to managing things himself – hence my involvement.

Pearl Assurance rang my mobile phone after applying for home insurance on go compare. They gave me a great deal and promised to ring me back in 2 days to finalise payment etc.
I feel Pearl have wasted my time, as I now have to start all over again. Very disappointed indeed.
