Nuisance Calls & They Hang Up On You When You Try To Call

Even though I am registered with the telephone preference service they insist on calling to sell me insurance for my Sky box. When asked politely for basic company details they hang up.

I called their customer services, who also hung up once they knew I was trying to get information rather than buy something.

I can only imagine how hard it will be to get any sort of claim from them if it is this hard to communicate on an even basic level.

Sky Tv Coverage By My Cover Insurance

This company contacted me offering me cheaper Sky TV repair cover. They rang twice and I checked them out on the internet and they seemed genuine. After paying £90 for the year I never heard from the again, no paperwork, confirmation or anything. After a few weeks I tried to contact them via the internet and no matter how I typed the name in they just weren't there any more. I phoned my bank and it was logged as fraud, I was recommended to phone the police which I did and it was taken very seriously. My bank told me the money was taken by a heating and plumbing company through the internet and they refunded the £90 to me. I understand this isn't a one off incident, other people have been duped in the same way by other outfits. Today I have received a letter from My Cover informing me that my payment has been taken back as a Chargeback and that I am now in arrears. If I don't pay them the matter will be passed to their Collections Team. This is the first communication I have had from them since October 2012. DO NOT USE THEM.

Mycover Uncovered

My hearing is, unfortunately, not what it used to be especially on the phone and this experience began through a phone call.

On a date of August this year I received an unsolicited call from a company called Mycover and whose specialty later transpired is maintenance insurance for a variety of domestic appliances. My cover with Sky was about due for renewal. The caller, as understood it, perhaps not well through my hearing difficulty led me to believe that this company was in some way connected with Sky and that the cover on offer was to take the place of the one I had.

At a later date, when I received a letter from Sky about my renewal I realised that I had probably been duped. Using the emailing facility that My cover had on their website I sent them an email complaining about the sale and cancelling my contract. This happened on the 21st. day of remote- distance purchase.

Despite their claims about response timing on their acknowledgment of my email I didn’t hear from the company for 6 days at the end of which I sent a second email. There were a number of emails exchanged with Mycover over the next few days the upshot of which was for me to learn that my first email had gone missing, the second had been classed as spam and that, should I cancel the contract I would have to pay £25.00 for administration costs; further a recorded letter sent to the CEO of the company brought nothing back, not even an acknowledgment.

While a formal complaint is now undergoing due process, regardless of the outcome, I think that this experience should make people think twice before accepting any offer from My cover who, if they cannot attend to their paperwork properly can be doubted to pay enough attention at the standards of the operators they may be using to repair appliances.

My 84 year old mother has just had a very similar experience with this company. They lead her to believe they were connected to the Sky insurance service and tricked her into paying £13.75 a quarter for a new TV set which was still under warranty
