I Insure Some Properties Using This Company And Ha
I insure some properties using this company and have now taken out car insurance with them too.
Everything works as it should, initial good price and pretty easy procedures to follow.

An Expensive Mistake - Poor And Inefficient.
Motor Quote Direct were so difficult to deal with that I cancelled my car insurance policy within the cooling-off period and forfeited the administration fee.
I needed to make an amendment to my policy and the administration fee (£35) was more expensive than any other company I have dealt with. When I phoned to enquire about the cost to cancel, they advised that I would need to email, however emails would go unanswered for 3-4 days.
When they did respond, they immediately cancelled the policy without providing a cost and when I phoned, the refund was calculated incorrectly by £70.
Disaster from start to finish.

Charged Me A Fortune When They Forced Me To Cancel
I took out a policy with Motor Quote Direct then when I later remembered to tell them about modifications to the car they told me they would charge me a fortune extra. So they cancelled my policy and said they would refund me minus the time I had been with them and an admin fee of £35 which I thought was a lot but ok. Then I call back and discover they also charged me an admin fee of £35 from the underwriters! They didn't mention that the first time I asked!
Thats weird they are quoting me Highway Charges £25.00 admin fee with pro-rata charge for cancellation within first 14 days of cover after which it is the same but add a £90 cancellation charge by the broker Motor Quote Direct aka Bedford Insurance Services. It is a year later, I think its the broker charges that are disproportionate to the actual work involved, more covering the reclaw of the commission they earned from the initial premium placement. Even more disgraceful is not knowing what the admin fee is going to be on an alteration like a change of car. They quote in addition to the insurers additional premium, they will add an admin fee of between £12.50 up to £250.00!!! I'd love to know how they differentiate who gets charged what admin fee? Think I'm stuck where I am until the renewal and then get out quick :(
