I took an insurance policy for my car through done deal insurance 6 weeks ago,when cancelling some old direct debits a week later I cancelled my payment to them,realizing my mistake I called straight away to reinstate it. I was told it was fine the payment wasn't due yet anyway so they would just set it back up. I thought no more of it till I received a letter telling me they had cancelled my policy 5 days before I received the letter!I had been driving around uninsured without knowing. When I called I was told they had no record of my call after asking them to check again they found my call and admitted that it was their error they offered to call back to arrange a new policy. When someone called later they offered me a new policy at a higher price when I said I felt this was unfair they told me there was nothing they could do and to go elsewhere they also told me they wouldn't give me a discount as they had already waived the cancellation fee they had charged for cancelling my policy?? Even though it was their mistake!Rubbish company would hate to see how they behave if you needed to make a claim
