I returned from Argentina with a bundle of Argentine Pesos - this is a "closed currency" and so none of the usual exchange places will take them.

I had not purchased the currency from Thomas Global but they were able to buy from me. As I was passing their Kings Cross office I called in (they also accept foreign currency by next day delivery post), they took the Pesos at 12:00, they had to transfer them to their Oxford Circus office to check for forgeries (forgeries are common in Argentina). By 17:00 that day I received a call to confirm they were happy with the notes and that the funds were in my bank. Excellent service and a reasonable rate without which I would still be stuck with £500 worth of pesos.

Please do not use Thomas Exchange Global in the city Branch! They sold me Amex Travellers cheques which I was not able to use at my destination. Upon my return I went o get a refund for the full amount only a few days after my return. They asked me to sign and date the cheques without telling me the exchange rate and then gave me a really low exchange rate, which I refused to take. But now that the cheques were signed, I was forced to go with their rates as they told me no-one else would accept the cheques now they were signed and dated. This is utterly outrageous as they were holding me over a barrel! PLEASE DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM!!

I am now calling Amex Travellers cheques to find out a solution on how to get my money back without going through these utterly dishonnest people.

Also there is always a massive queue and they are not very polite people.

DO NOT USE THOMAS/EX GLOBAL CURRENCY EXCHANGE SHOP IN VICTORIA!!!

They tried to steal some of my money by "counting it in the machine", The difference was alarming, by a few thousand of foreign currency, worth more than 1 thousand pounds, and therefore a huge difference in volume! I asked them to give my money back, so I could count it again, they refused to pass it back to me, doing it later after I started shouting at them! I counted the money in front of them, to be assured they did tried to steal it!

AVOID AT ANY COST!!
