I checked online this morning to see the exchange rates from sterling to dollars and decided to go with Thomas Cook. I did not realise that the online rate was more than the in-branch rate and came out of the deal more than £16 worse off than if I'd ordered it online. It should be made clearer in Thomas Cook's advertisement that the rate will be lower in-branch. I would have ordered online and collected the money the next day instead of going in today and buying the dollars in-branch. Also, I think it would be better if the advisors in-branch told you the rate they were paying BEFORE taking your money. If I'd realised the poor in-branch rate I'd have gone to the Post Office (which I will do next time) - much clearer information.
