i put money on my card via paypoint, money i needed for online shopping, i have no other debit card, and the money never went onto my card, i had the reciept from the shop, the payment was succesfull, i phoned the card company, they said theres nothing been added to your card no money, they and were implying i was making itup, so i said i have the reciept and they said email your reciept, it took three and a half weeks to have my money returned, in that time i rang a lot to find out where it was and they kept saying they couldnt tell me, i asked them if this could hapipen again and they assured me it would never happen again, i topped up again yesterday and yet again the money disapeared yet again no one can tell me when it will be returned, please be aware of this problem with this card, the customer care is non exsistant, they just do not no what to do or say, ll and to speak to a manager takes 24 to 48 hours for them to call you, thats the only way you can speak to a manager.

Avoid At All Cost
I HAVE BEING USING TUXEDO FOR YEARS AND FOR THE LAST MONTH OR SO MONEY HAS GONE MISSING FROM MY CARD, WHEN YOU CONTACT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY KEEP TELLING YOU ITS CURRENCY CHARGES, OVER THE YEARS ALL I PAID FOR WAS THE CHARGES FOR THE USING MACHINE AND A PERCENTAGE FOR CURRENCY, THE MOST RECENT WAS I PUT £30 AT 12.32PM ON THE CARD AT THE PAY POINT AND IT WAS SUCCESSFUL AND AT 12.32PM THE ACCOUNT SAYS MINUS THE MONEY SO DON'T KNOW WHERE IT IS AND TUXEDO DON'T WANT TO KNOW. I WILL NOT BE USING THEM EVER AGAIN AS I DON'T HAVE MONEY TO GIVE AWAY.

Worst Service Ever Experienced
I`ve dealt with a lot of call centers and automated customer care lines over the years and Tuxedo rank as the absolute worst, and thats a BIG statement!
Firstly, the account itself. Its a pre-paid card, ie you (or a third party) put your own money onto the card, for whatever reason, Holiday spends, kids allowance etc etc...EVERY single transaction generates a fee of around £1.50 for Tuxedo, every time you use the card it costs!! THAT IS, when you can actually get the card to work. For me, every 8 out of 10 attempts to draw funds or buy goods and the card is either not accepted, or has been blocked. The worst issue was on a long weekend in Krakow, took spends on the card, having been assured it would be accepted wherever Mastercard was accepted. WRONG, the card was refused, refused again and then blocked, luckily I had a backup.
Secondly, attempting to contact Tuxedo! Almost impossible, one automated service connects to another automated service, each with their pre-amble all at a cost of 10p per minute, only to discover, at the end of 5 minutes of robotic excrement, that the service is unavailable. The ONLY way I have ever actually connected with a human voice is by "reporting the card stolen" and demanding that my issues be dealt with.
In principle, pre-paid cards are a great idea, I have another issued by Thomas Cook and never have an issue with it so why Tuxedo are so useless is beyond me. AVOID at all costs...
Agreed. If I want to be shouted at, I call the Tuxedo call centre - outrageous, non-existent customer service by extremely rude people. Simple customer questions are NEVER answered, account charges are obtuse, account is often blocked for no reason at ATM, online account balance sheets are unusual to say the least. Avoid Tuxedo!

Tuxexo Do Not Care About Customers
As a state pensioner currently staying with friends abroad I thought I could rely on the Tuxedo prepaid card for withdrawing free from the local HSBC ATM. When trying to withdraw my weekly housekeeping requirement last week, the machine failed to dispense the money & kept my card. The withdrawal amount remained pending on my account, despite not having received it.
The local HSBC returned my card two days later & said the pending amount should be removed within 3 working days. It is now 7 working days later & the amount is still pending, so I have no access to it.
I have emailed Tuxedo customer care (what a joke!), & the two replies show a total lack of sympathy to my hardship. I have to wait for the "system" to run its course. I'm not even being told when this might be.
Do not rely on this company when travelling abroad.
I have had to draw further funds with a debit card to tide me over. This has incurred a £3 charge, plus interest on a temporary overdraft.
Why should I be paying for errors in the banks' own systems?

No Transparency Or Consistancey! Be Ware!
I've been using Tuxedo prepaid debit card for a while now. I started using them because of flexibility and convenience. And I thought the no credit history check an semi-anonymity was a great selling point. Most business need your custom so to refuse someone their purchasing power is bad for any business.
No form of I.D was asked of me, when I applied and was given this card. The top up limit is up to £1500. Nothing was said about someone mistakenly sending money to and enters the wrong reference number. This is exactly what happened, and they dis-activated my account, with £700 plus on it. Now they are asking for proof of deposit from me, when I wasn't the depositor. I'm in a totally different country, without much finances because of these incompetent knaves in an Indian call center. They don't return my phone calls, they lie, make reference to their rules and regulations but fail to provide any paper work to verify their claims.
They have told me via their actions that they will no reactivate the account until I've complied, yet, they never asked for these things when I was applying for the e-account, and ignore my request for full disclosure of the practices.
I've sent correspondence to all parties that have sent me money via this undesirable company, that they should all reverse they payments they made to me. I will no longer use banks like this anymore. They are all criminals and do what they want without authority.
I will make it my purpose to continually tell people of these criminals. They want my passport photograph now, why? I've been using their services for almost a year this month. Now they wish to take hundreds of pounds from me!

AVOID THIS CARD!
I'm sorry to start with shouting as I'm quite a reasonable person really, but I have had such awful trouble with Tuxedo that I felt I should find somewhere on the web where I would be able to warn other people about their useless service.
Firstly; topping up the card when it finally arrives is a bit hit and miss -if you put the money in over the counter at a post office then it will be credited pretty instantly. However when I've paid stuff in at the bank using all the details they gave me to do so the money didn't appear at all. I rang them (in India) and they denied all knowledge of the payment being received. I checked again with my bank and the payment had apparently been taken by Tuxedo but not given to me; so, back onto Tuxedo. They again denied it had been paid in. I was getting quite cross and asked to speak to a superviser - was this the magic word perhaps because the guy at the other end suddenly sounded worried and 'found' the deposit straight away. How odd. I might also add that another favourite of Tuxedo phone operators is to tell you that the computer system is down and they can't look your details up; this has happened several times to me now. Strangely when they forget they've told you that they do seem to have access to the net as they were able to look up my local bank details in the UK. They were also able to tell me details about my account when they presumably 'forgot' that they were unable to access the account.
Now, I signed up for email alerts to let me know if the account was credited or if money was taken out. These don't work either - I had £50 paidn into the account last week. The next day an email told me £50 had been withdrawn! And now for the next and perhaps the most serious part - the Tuxedo website where you can check your account hasn't worked for more than a month. I was therefore unable to check my balance, and thinking there may have been some fraud had to go straight to a cashpoint and take the money out again. Really, the service I've had has been terrible and the customer service people either don't care or don't know. I would stay away from Tuxedo - I'm not sure of the alternatives but one of the other prepaid cards must be better than this lot.
Incidentally I would have rated them as zero for value and service but could only get a minimum of one star!
I’m looking for an alternative to the extortionate STA / Tuxedo / Mastercard prepaid card. I've only had mine 3 days and already they've scammed me £10.80. They all seem to have bad faults from not working in ATMs, to extortionate fees and exchange rates. I am taking this STA card to the Office of Fair Trading and the Financial Ombudsman. BTY Google search this card - there's loads of unhappy customers out there. Even the BBC has a webpage warning about it.
I Thought As I Had A Barclays Account And Tuxedo I
I thought as I had a barclays account and tuxedo is apparently part of barclays that when I was in there I would ask them about it 'never heard of tuxedo .. so that says it all really.
The account is fine if you dont care when money is paid in, not worried about being charged for standing orders being paid in, not able to speak to anyone who makes sense and you dont mind a round trip of the local towns to find a cashpoint that accepts your card.
Overall I am not impressed with tuxedo
