I Was Distressed To Find Out That The Credit Limit

I was distressed to find out that the credit limit on my Nationwide Cash Reward Credit Card had been slashed without my knowledge. The limit, despite my payments being up to date, left me with £20 available credit for 3weeks. I only discovered this when an attempt to make a payment by CC was rejected by Nationwide. The limit set was less than monthly repayment levels.

Poor Customer Service. I Tried Desperately To Pay

poor customer service. I tried desperately to pay my bill on time on the internet over christmas but it kept just giving me the 'due' date for it to go in which was no good. Paid the balance anyway, and went into the branch when it was open and paid the minimum amount to try and avoid the late payment fee. With Halifax you can pay on the day in branch and it will clear. Got a late payment fee and they refused to remove it despite me asking them to help me out as we are struggling. She said there was nothing she could do. She really didn't care that I said I would be closing the account.

I've Had My Nationwide Cash Reward Card For 2 Year

I've had my Nationwide Cash Reward card for 2 years now without any probs. However, I found out last week that my card was declined when I tried to use it. Was told when I phoned up customer service that my account was now closed! No phone call, no email or letter - zilch! So now I'm without a credit card and now I have to apply for a new one without an automatic transfer. Totally apalled to be treated like this. When I phoned up they couldn't tell me why the account was closed, etc. I'm currently waiting for a response to my complaint and if it is not dealt with properly then I will close all my accounts and take my money elsewhere.

Ok , So You Get The Cash Reward And It Doesn't Cos

Ok , so you get the cash reward and it doesn't cost to take cash out abroad, BUT...

1. There is no interest free period, so even if you have it set up as a direct debit (like i do) you still manage to pay interest over the month, even when it isn't your fault

2. trying to speak to someone on their team is near impossible, even at 9am when their offices open

3. i have had no end of problems where for months i kept getting charged interest because they hadn't set up my direct debit correctly, didn't help that i was away travelling so came back to a nice sizable sum outstanding, great!

overall, ok if your away, but otherwise look elsewhere

Nationwide Cash Reward Credit Card Is A Fantastic

Nationwide Cash Reward Credit Card is a fantastic card for foreign travels. However cash reward for this card is min. Also does not apply to foreign transaction. If your main reason for using this card is cash reward, then you might want to choose other credit card.

A Nice Company To Deal With, But There Has Been So

A nice company to deal with, but there has been some belt tightening as regards rewards.

I Would Definitely Recommend The Nationwide Cash R

I would definitely recommend the Nationwide Cash reward credit card, both generally and for anyone going abroad. There are no commission charges - I took mine when I went round the world for 6 months, and I have saved SO much.

Customer services are generally helpful, and they seem to get it right first time, and they're in the UK so you can understand them.

I Got The Nationwide Cash Reward Credit Card For T

I got the Nationwide Cash Reward Credit Card for the no extra charge on cash withdrawals abroad, and it has been useful for that. BUT it took me a while to realise that there is NO interest free period at all. i.e. as soon as you pay for goods or services, interest starts to pile up, even before you get the bill! I don't know any other card that does that, and it nullifies the cash reward.

Also their period allowed to pay is far too short, which is impossible over Christmas etc. unless you pay online. To be fair, they did refund the penalty for late payment when I complained.

I don't know what you are used to. But all my credit cards issued in the UK or even in South-East Asia where I was formerly resident of charge interest as soon as you withdraw cash from an ATM.

It's all in the long-boring terms and conditions if people actually read it beforehand.

MrsGrey

Well yes that is what I would have thought. However, I always pay my balance of in full, in time, and thus I was amazed at the interest being charged. I rang them and asked is this really what happens, and repeated the question in different words to be sure and yes, that is what they say they do. Interest is charged on all purchases, from the date of the transaction. I even asked-- " so the amount of interest will depend on when in the month you make the purchase-- if I buy something 27 days before the statement is sent to me, then I will pay more interest than if the putchase is just before the statement date?" Answer-- yes. I have stopped using the card, but after your message I may call again to make sure!

No interest free period ?

The only time you will incur a interest charge is if you dont make a full balance payment, so for instance you pay the minimum payment you will incur a interest charge,

If you make a full balance payment then you wont incur interest but this must be over 2 consecutive statements if you have previously not paid the full balance off due to interest accuring till the day you make the payment. the remaining interest charge is placed on your next statement. if full payments are kept up you wont recieved any interest. - unless of course you perform a balance transfer or withdraw cash.

I Have Had The Nationwide Cash Reward Credit Card

I have had the Nationwide Cash Reward credit card since last May, and I have found it very good and easy to use, and on December 31st I had the cash reward that built up during the year credited to my account - nice one!
