Appalling! Interest Rate Is Now Extortionate, Cust

Appalling! Interest rate is now extortionate, customer care are Indian based and really, really bad. DO NOT TAKE OUT A CARD WITH THEM YOU WILL REGRET IT! We asked to make a large payment over the phone they said the debit card was declined and put it through again they said that was still declined. When we went to pay it with our bank they said the payment was never declined and had been taken twice and gave us the authorisation codes...obviously a nightmare to then try to sort and meanwhile we are without £18k while they all argue over where it is!!! Idiots!

Also, if you get your statements online there are no payment methods given as the payment methods are on the statement reverse and they don't show you that online. There is nothing on their website that tells you how to make a payment either, they are so keen just for you to make the minimum payment by direct debit each month.

Citi Card Have To Be One Of The Worst Credit Card

Citi Card have to be one of the worst credit card companies going - and their charges are nothing short of extortionate. When I originally took the card out with Citi the APR was 19.2% but as my balance increased they decided to increase the APR; although I have never missed a payment. The interest has risen so much that it now stands at 39.9 % . Citi cards are now charging almost £80 per month interest on a balance of £2200. I have rung to complain about this but surprise surprise supervisor isn't available. I will never deal with Citi Cards again when this is paid off, and would advise anyone who is considering a card from this company to have nothing to do with this firm EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I quite agree. My husband and I both pay off our card in full by the due date, and they still add on some interest saying "this is an interest bearing account". What?? We have both now closed the account, but still got charged a "flexible interest fee", albeit about 60p. But multiply that by millions of account holders and they are making a huge profit.

Hi, I Would Just Like To Share My Bad Experie

Hi,

I would just like to share my bad experience with Citibank.

Basically if you close your citibank account, you will lose all your thank you points within 30 days. They do not tell you this and will refuse to reinstate the points even if you rejoin.

Because of this I will never do business with Citibank ever again. I spent over 50k on the card and even with the loyalty, they refused to honor my Thank you points. On top of that the Thank you program reduced the value of the points where 1 point = $1. I would rather get a cashback card of 1% where you are guaranteed 1% back.

Do Not Get A Citi Card If You Ever Expect To Dispu

Do not get a Citi card if you ever expect to dispute a charge and expect the protection of Federal Law. You cannot depend on anything a representative tells you over the phone, they frequently ignore written communications, and they do not investigate disputes as they are required to do under law. They are very good at rebilling the disputed charge (without investigation) and even adding interest, resulting in the need for additional letters and calls to their worthless customer service department. Go with American Express. They have their act together and conduct thorough investigations of any disputes.

I Cannot Get Through To The Complaints Department

I cannot get through to the complaints department and cannot get through to disputed transaction department either. I am regularly kept on hold for ages and then passed to call centre in India who don't have the authority to do very much apart from put you on hold again or disconnect your call.

I have been with Shell Visa for 7 years. Shell recently changed from RBS to Citibank, the worst decision ever.

I have a recently disputed a purchase where goods were never delivered.

As soon as I get my refund concluded I will be closing this account, I don't need the hassle. Unfortunately I have had to get the Financial Ombudsman involved and take Citibank to court to get this refund processed.

I Am Completely Unsatisfied With Citi Over My Rece

I am completely unsatisfied with citi over my recent credit card. Following a very complex process of setting up the account and getting online (which took an almighty effort in itself) I realised they hadn't put through the balance transfer I had requested and they wanted to charge me 3% on the balance I wanted to transfer! I will pay off the balance and get rid.

I Recently Had A Dispute With Citibank Which Was T

I recently had a dispute with Citibank which was the worst customer services experience I have ever had (I am 38).

Problems with this bank:

1. Statements come from Belgium and are frequently lost.

2. Customer services off shored and only want to get payment at almost any cost. I rang several times to say the account was in dispute and awaiting underwriters review (for incorrectly applied charges) and still they would repeatedly asked for minimum payment.

3. Poor phone systems. Whenever I tried to escalate the complaint and they tried transfering the call, the line was dropped - 8 times on 3 seperate days.

4. Failure to properly record the results of calls. Subsequent calls revealed that agreements to log information had not been actioned.

5. Three weeks after contacting complaints/underwriting received a letter that they could not currently address the complaint as they could not access records. Not sure how they can run a bank where records cannot be accessed by one of the highest departments.

6. Payment systems not working. They were unable to process a payment on a debit card despite the fact that this is a known working card and has never had a problem. Also were not aware that Switch/Maestro card no longer have issue numbers. System does not allow for the entry of the (now required) start date.

This is an extract of all the problems with this company.

Summary:

The worst financial company I have ever encountered. Poor systems and practices and enough flaws for me to say:

I Believe Citibank Loves To Make It Very Hard For

I believe Citibank loves to make it VERY HARD for you to pay. Bills are timed to arrive shortly before ever changing due dates. Not to mention charging you a princely sum of around $15.00 if you choose to pay by phone.

Trying to pay on the web is not any easier... you have to have the card in front of you if you are paying on-line to give them security code, etc. (like who would not mind someone else paying off their credit card?).

Bills are laid out in a confusing manner so you have to fish for extra charges.

Interest rates can shoot up to 35% with late fees and misc. charges piling up faster than you can count.

Customer service is snide and most probably working on some form of commission. They assume you have overextended yourself by some form or another.

I would avoid all Citibank cards. There are many better choices out there.

I Wanted Thee Citibank Platinum Credit Card Becaus

I wanted thee Citibank Platinum credit card because of the 5% cash back on gas and groceries. When I called customer service the first two times, I was so bullied into buying a protection product I did not want that I closed the account. These sales people (oh sorry "customer service" people) would not take no for an answer. The call centers are in India, and although I have no ideological problem with that, my wife had to ask one customer service agent to repeat the same question more than 8 times. Communication was not an issue for me, but I will not willingly do business with a company that will not accept a polite "no thank you" to a sales offer. With Citibank, you either have to get real aggressive, mean and scream, or you have to just hang up and move your account. Think twice about how much that 5% is worth to you.

oh-oh... just read all the bad reviews about this card and am a bit worried... I applied for it because it seems to be the only one that carries a cash back reward at the moment (Morgan Stanley which I have just cancelled now charges £20 for the privilege and I am wary of Amex not accepted everywhere). Anyway, I have already experienced a couple of symptoms: "on receipt, no mention of cash back in the paperwork, but confirmed by customer service on activating the card", and "attempt at selling some by-product when activating card"... wait and see... I haven't used the card yet... to be continued...
