I recently spoke with an agent at cogency recruitment and they spoke to me about a role they had to which I was not interested in as it was not something I wanted to do in my career. However, the agent then explained and advised me of another 3 jobs with direct employers to which he had no dealings with. He even gave me the contact details and advised me of the approach. Recruitment companies should take a leaf out of cogency's book.

They state on their web page 'We endeavour to develop a personal yet professional relationship built upon mutual respect and honesty. You will not be treated as a product.' - I can have a laugh. I was contacted about one particular job, one of the recruitment agents claimed that the employer was very interested in me and he kept in touch for about a week. I kindly asked him to let me know about the result - after 2 weeks, without any contact whatsoever, the advertisement for the same job appeared on one of the job-servers. Now I understand that they did not have a time to give me the details about why I was not successful, but at least they should have let me know, especially after ensuring me (several times via e-mail) that they would do so. I would not recommend this agency to any of my friends, as I know how it feels to hopelessly wait for an answer. Thank you, but no.
