Alliance And Leicester Have Caused Me Untold Probl
Alliance And Leicester have caused me untold problems. They too a d/d of £3500 3 times!! then told me it was my fault and charged £25 each for another 7 d/d that were returned as unpaid as I was overdrawn - hello, of course I was overdrawn you've just taken £10500 instead of £3500!. It took me a week and 4 unhelpful customr advisers before it was sorted. hence I am looking for a new bank.

I could not agree more, I have always banked with BOS and found them to be polite and helpful although not always the easiest of processes.
I have now moved to Alliance and Leicester who are agreed, rude unhelpful, incompetent and certainly not free! - In the time it takes to ring time to ring them, get though, get off hold, get put through to the wrong person, send in a fax for it not to be auctioned, to then repeat the whole phone process to be told to resend the fax and nothing is still ever done!
At least they have a good online bank facility...opps sorry was thinking of another bank, A&L's is poor too!
Pay and use another they do not help your business!

I have been in business nearly 30 years; this definitely the worst customer service I have come across. If you have a grievance it is impossible to speak to anyone in management. They are inefficient and inept. I am transferring to Bank of Scotland where they have real managers to answer the phone (I'll report back in 6 months!).

Poor customer service, did not issue cards for cash credit/withdrawal when account opened, then closed account without satisfactory explanation causing embarassment and extra hassle to find another account. Unwilling to explain action and offhand.
Worst experience of bank service (or lack of) ever.
