Have They Ever Answered An Email?

I'm wondering what these people do, and how many other people may (like me) have received absolutely no response. They make a point about insecure emails are, but they could have replied saying that they couldn't do anything by email, or they could simply stop publishing an email address.

When I emailed again asking nicely and saying it was 6 months ago, I thought they might say "Oh my goodness" [or something of the kind], but they have still said Nothing At All.

Meantime my enquiry could have resulted in a small business being set up, with NIC and tax being paid, and a minute bit of good being done in the economy. Of course it hasn't happened, but HMRC staff get paid every month anyway.

Surely it is almost a definition of enterprise that you have to deliver something, to somebody, somewhere, and it has to be in some way useful.

I take it back. A little. They did get back to me, and they do have somebody there, who is trying a bit, albeit not answering my questions properly, just saying I should fill in a form and send in accounts, memorandum and articles, tax reference number, prospectuses, and subscription agreements, bla bla, but none of those things exist, and nor will they ever exist unless HMRC can clarify some of its rules for us so as to help us determine whether the proposed start up business might be eligible for the tax relief. Even if we knew what their rules were trying to achieve - why some activities are eligible and others excluded - it would be a start. But I don't think even HMRC staff know that, so even where an individual may want or try to be helpful, it doesn't work. Wouldn't it be easier to have lower tax rates and no tax reliefs?
