Having previously bought takeaway pies from this tea rooms and bakery, I thought it would be nice to try their Sunday lunch: I wish I hadn't bothered. I ordered the hot salmon pie and it was deeply disappointing: the pastry was soggy, both on top and underneath - as if it had been heated in a microwave. The alleged roast potatoes were only partially brown and certainly nowhere near crispy. The broccoli and carrots were perfectly acceptable but would have benefited from a little seasoning.
Given that we only went there to sample the delicious pies, this whole experience was a real let down.
I must say the cream teas I saw being delivered to other tables looked delicious and I did buy a slice of steak pie to take home for my son's dinner: he LOVED it. However, as far as an 'eat in lunch' experience is concerned, save your money: buy a pie then cook and eat it at home.
