If You Want A Stress Free Wedding Do Not Buy Your
If you want a stress free wedding do not buy your wedding dress from Weddings by Karen Jane of Fenstanton. Despite ordering and paying a deposit over six months in advance and being assured this was plenty of time,the dress was not delivered until two weeks before the wedding.The management do not contact you with updates, the phones go unanswered on some weekdays, the website was not working and verbal promises about delivery dates were broken The attitude after the deposit is paid is brusque and unprofessional and concerns are brushed off. The dress was poorly finished in places but the late delivery left no time for an alternative. Late delivery meant little time for fittings and alterations. Alterations were expensive and in part were poorly done. On collection little care was taken in handling to ensure the dress was not soiled. You will be paying a lot for a dress you deserve better than the service we got.It was as if once they have your deposit they have you over a barrel.
I had a very similar experience. Sorry that you had to go through this, too. I ordered my dress in July 2010, and was told it would be ready to collect in December. When I went to pick it up, they charged me £50 for an "express delivery" charge, a charge I was told nothing about in July. Of course I had to pay it if I wanted my dress! I decided the alteration charges were exorbitant - but that's where they make even more money - so paid and took the dress elsewhere for alterations. They were clearly very reluctant to allow this but after I'd paid, it was my property. All alterations were done beautifully and for a much lower fee at Sew and Sew in Willhingham.
I have also heard that from a friend who got her dress there, delivery was so late she brought a dress from Karen Forte in Bassingbourn in the end which ironically was the dress she fell in love with first. Was just £300 over budget but at least she got her dream dress in the end! Sorry you had to experience it too.
