The Couture Gallery

I first saw The Couture Gallery's beautiful wedding dresses on the Brides magazine website and loved their glamour and elegance. The boutique, just off Kensington Church Street, is lovely and the best thing was being able to speak to the designer, Britta, in person when I called to make an appointment and when I came into the shop. It was so nice to be able to discuss my ideas and possible modifications to the designs with Britta as well as her suggestions to make them unique and adapted to suit me personally. This makes a refreshing change to some of the more cheesy sales patter you get in some of the bridal stores! It was great to have input into an almost bespoke wedding dress and you know that the quality of the dresses is great as they are hand made in the shop with beautiful silks and lace. I even loved trying on the calico toile (mock-up) which would have been a lovely dress in itself! Every time I came back for a fitting I found myself coveting another of Britta's designs but I loved wearing my beautiful and unique dress on my wedding day and had so many compliments, it's just a shame it only gets one outing!

You know how it is usually for brides... trying tones of dresses before finding one that fits and that the bride is happy with? Going from wedding shop to wedding shop wasting time and feeling exhausted? Well there was none of that hassle for me! Friendly designer and a big professional Britta from The Couture Gallery in Kensington instantly found the right one and made my experience very pleasant. No joke, I have only tried two dresses, loved them both and finally decided for the second one. Right choice, since the guests at my wedding all thought I looked like a film star and I also felt like one throughout the entire evening. The specially genius part of my extremely elegant dress was that the long back part of the dress folded up in such a way, that is still looked amazing and I was ready for dancing in no time! I still love to stop in front of the window of The Gallery, just to sneak a peak at the new beauties. I highly recommend for any brides to be.

I bought my wedding dress from the Couture Gallery in Kensington and will forever be grateful that I did. Tucked away in a perfect little street off Kensington Church Street, but only a minute from the main road (and a quick five minutes from Notting Hill Gate) is the stylish studio and boutique, where the dresses are actually made as well.

I first spotted one of Britta's fantastic dresses at the designer wedding show in Battersea, and was hooked. They really stood out from all the others shown on the catwalk there, in their simplicity, quality and classiness. I had tried on a few dresses before, and only got depressed trying on something that was meant to be one of the best days of my life.

I ended up buying a sample Loewe tulle skirt/silk bodice dress w/a corsage which was just fantastic. I luckily got to wear it a few times prior to my big day as it was fitted a few times. It just instantly felt perfect and had 'my name on it' and was like no item of clothing I had ever worn before. A perfect wedding dress in other words!

On the wedding day I felt like Cinderella and I am still receiving compliments for my amazing dress.

I would highly recommend the Couture Gallery to any bride-to-be. The service is great, Britta and her staff are so lovely and the dresses are just incredible.

I went into the Couture Gallery because I loved the dresses in the window - simple, elegant and unique. Britta suggested styles that I should try on and I could tell that she already knew from looking at my body shape exactly which style would suit me best. She created the most beautiful dress using chiffon ribbon and a brooch, which created the elegant look that I wanted to achieve in a way that I would never have thought of. Going to the fittings was a pleasure (even for someone who does not enjoy shopping!) and Britta tweaked her design further to hide the lumps and accentuate the right bits of my figure! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Couture Gallery to any bride, as the whole process was enjoyable and stress-free, and the finished dress was absolutely stunning!

I walked past the Couture Gallery before my wedding in June and fell in love with Britta's designs. The dresses are so beautifully made and the details are so beautiful - Britta was a delight to deal with and she made 'the wedding dress search' such a lovely experience for me. I was so happy with my beautiful dress - it fit like a glove and I felt amazing wearing it on my special day (& my husband thought so too!). Britta, designer of the Couture Gallery, has been most amazing. The boutique is small and comfortable and I was made to feel extremely welcome right from my first visit. The service Britta provides is on a one to one basis, and therefore one feels very special, which is exactly what I wanted when looking for my wedding dress. The dress she designed for me was absolutely superb and on my wedding day I really felt like a princess! Everyone thought the dress was absolutely stunning! What I particularly enjoyed was the way I was able to voice some ideas and Britta, who's got all the know-how, managed to transform my thoughts into the dress of my dreams! Both Britta and her assistant have been brilliant and helpful all the way through. All I can do is recommend any bride to be to pop down to the Couture Gallery and have a try, it's worth every penny.

My wedding was in June 2009 and I cannot recommend the Couture Gallery highly enough. The beautiful dress created for me is a testament to the designer, Britta Kjerkegaards' expertise and eye for detail. Not only did Britta create my perfect dress but it was her enthusiasm and appreciation that this was my big day that made the couture experience thoroughly enjoyable. Britta's customer service really stood head and shoulders above the many wedding vendors I dealt with during the planning process. For most of the vendors I was just another wedding but Britta was entirely different and she really understood how important your wedding day is.

From the moment I got engaged the search for the perfect dress began. I had whittled it down to two from another designer and just couldn't pick 'the one'. I liked them both but neither was 100% perfect. I wanted to make subtle but important changes but the consultant was aghast at the idea. She was clearly insulted, not only that I dare to know my own mind but to question the brilliance of the world's most renowned bridal gown designer. It was then I knew that it wasn't going to work out for me and that particular designer... so, dejected and disappointed, my search resumed.

Flicking through one of the bridal magazines I stumbled upon a striking dress from the Couture Gallery. I loved the dress but it was quite structured and being very slight I was worried that I wouldn't fill it. Nonetheless I made an appointment and as soon as I tried the dress on I knew it was the one. I didn't believe the old adage, 'when you find the right dress you'll know'. But it was abundantly clear as soon as I tried Britta's gown on that I had found the right dress.

Unlike the other designer I had dealt with Britta was completely empathetic that for a strong minded bride the odds of finding your perfect gown off the peg are pretty bleak. Britta was happy to work with me and we selected everything together from the perfect fabric hue to compliment my skin tone to subtle changes to the gown that would work best for my figure. I also asked Britta to make a complimenting wrap to cover my shoulders and Britta's final design was breathtaking. Not only did I thoroughly enjoy the couture process but Britta created the most amazing gown for me... it was unique, truly stunning and a superb fit! I'm already looking forward to renewing my vows so I can come back to the Couture Gallery and enjoy the experience all over again!

from the onset Britta put me at ease. I had a very clear idea of what I was looking for, but I loved some of the extra details she suggested. i had left the entire thing rather late, but she managed to have it ready for the day and despite having some lace specially for me!

The day after I got engaged I started buying wedding magazines and pulled out pages with dresses that I liked. I then went to half a dozen bridal shops trying on dresses, but they never had anything like the picture that I couldn't stop looking at. I was in Kensington in another bridal shop, again with no luck, so i pulled out the picture, noticed the Couture Gallery was just around the corner, and gave them a call. Without having made an appointment, they allowed me to go in and I met with the designer Britta herself. The dress was perfect and Britta made the whole experience so easy and relaxing. It was nice to actually meet the designer of the dress. Britta was fantastic in helping me to decide on my hair and jewellery, and just generally a very nice person. The sample dress fit like a glove and even though it was over my budget, it was the only dress I could imaging wearing on my wedding day.

It was such a breath of fresh air to find the Couture Gallery!

Only 7 weeks till the wedding, I can't wait to wear it!

I was married in August this year and had my beautiful wedding dress made at The Couture Gallery in Kensington. I had very positive experience and I absolutely loved everything about having my dress made with them.

The shop is little bit hidden away from the main street; I spent a few minutes finding it - just off Kensington Church Street. The dresses there were beautifully made. All is made in the shop and I was therefore able to ad personal touches to the dress. Also, I felt I was in very safe hands. The staff knew the dresses inside out and were always patient with all my questions (and there were many :).

I enjoyed the whole process from my first appointment to I collecting my finished dress. I even got the bridesmaids dresses with them. I would highly recommend the Couture Gallery.
