I had a lovely experience with this company. I booked a saturday appointment for to look at wedding dresses, while my bridesmaids swanned about in loads of bridesmaid dresses. We were a big party but fortunately they had enough staff to cope with us and the occasional girl who wondered in off the street looking for prom dresses.

Talking of prom dresses, I want a prom for grownups! Some of the prom outfits were lush. Unfortunately I didn't have the budget to kit out the bridesmaids in prom, but I want an excuse to wear one myself!

We went for Mori Lee dresses for all of us, and the quality was fab.

The staff were really friendly, and our daughter loved the car mat!

Ordered my dress and three bridesmaids dresses from Glamourous Gowns, and they were fab. I was a bit nervous beforehand, as I have a quite visible scar and didn't like the idea of parading around in front of loads of strangers, but I booked an appointment on the understanding I would get the shop to myself. Not only did Alex find the right dress for me, but she also made me some sleeves which worked really well. My bridesmaids were also chuffed to bits.

Oh and the closed sign went up when my appointment started, so we did have the shop all to us!

In brief:

1) Ordered a dress from Glamorous Gowns

2) Contacted them when it was due to be delivered, but I found out - through a recorded answer message - that the store was closed for another couple of weeks

3) Called the store again when it reopened, and found out the dress hadn’t arrived yet

4) It was only then that my order was followed up, and it was found out that there was a problem with my order I wouldn’t receive the dress prior to the wedding

5) I was notified of this via e-mail, too close to the wedding date (<1 month)

6) Was not offered any suitable alternative, other than an apology and refund, meaning that I needed to find another dress in less than 1 month.

Awful experience. Glamorous gowns in my opinion are unreliable and possibly negligent. Would definitely not recommend this retailer if you’re after a stress-free wedding.

I found the website very easy to use and my products arrived in the time scale provided. I found the prices to be very reasonable and the quality was fantastic.

However I must say bad customer service and really needs improving. The wrong colour product was sent to me so I called the number and was told that I had to wait to speak to the person that would be able to auth my return (only one person in the whole business can do this). I requested a call back on a number of occasions and did not get called back. Instead I received an email to advise that I could send the items back. When I called back in to clarify that I would be refunded the cost to send the incorrect product back I was told that I was not as important than the customer in the shop and instead had to resort to email communication.

I have now received the correct colour items however I still have not had a refund for the shipping cost and when I tried to leave feedback of my issue on their website they removed it.

It has some wonderful designer dresses, especially the classy looking Sarah designs, very simple and elegant... I love the fact I can put all my sizes, the exact intricate details of my dress (feels like I am designing it myself, choosing necklines, zips etc and that it guides me through the whole process. It is full of excellent and worthwile information to help me choose and I am bowled over by notes to aid me when taking measurements. It is just great to know that I will be able to choose something truly unique.

Because I am always busy and looking for quality AND value for money, I don't really have the time to trawl round shops this is a great site with ideas for bridesmaids dresses too. My friend's daughter got a prom dress from the Sister shop for her daughter from Glamorous Gowns and so have lots of her friends for their daughters (apparently theme Prom things are a big deal nowadays?) and they were all delighted with the courteous service, the price and their commitment to getting it just right for these teenage girls. This company seem to be a jolly good find in this day and age! I looked at another site, which very annoyingly will not quote prices, that is so "out of tough" in the currently climate of budgeting your every expense for the BIG DAY...... I really hope that my comments are useful to other excited brides to be's like me!
