I Was Intrigued By This Range Of Dresses, As They
I was intrigued by this range of dresses, as they offer a contemporary take on vintage designs. It seemed ideal in my search for a vintage looking dress, but in a new condition. The website makes the dresses look simple and elegant, and on a normal model rather than a photo-shopped delight!
There are 9 or 10 designs, representing the Edwardian to the 1970s period. I immediately knew that these were not for me, the moment that I tried on my favourite. These dresses are just not special enough in terms of finish or materials to justify their prices (at least £1800). These are very relaxed dresses, with no corsetry, so why? The samples are in quite a tatty state - OK, understandable - but it doesn't give the greatest impression, especially for the silk satins: what if you catch a thread on the big day? And the samples are only in an 8-10, indicating the demographic that Circa is aiming for. The range only goes to a UK 14, and I would say that these have all been designed for the very long and very lean.
More positively, Circa are very friendly, and give the impression of really being interested in what you are hoping to find. No pressure is applied. I think the dresses are perfect for a simple, city wedding. Finally, the dresses in the 'civilian' part of the shop are wonderful, so you might just decide to go to your wedding in something other than cream or white.
I ordered my wedding dress with www.weddingdressesshop.co.nz on the 8/7/11 and received my dress on the 25/7/11. Firstly the team at wedding apparel emailed me on a regular basis, which was reassuring knowing that they where committed to
making my dress perfect for me. They also notified me when they had sent my dress along with a tracking number.
Secondly but most importantly my dress is beautiful, just what I wanted. It is made to perfection, and after trying
many wedding dresses on in bridal boutiques, I cannot see any difference. My dress is very detailed with embroidery,
and honestly I cannot fault it.
I thank the whole team at wedding apparel for putting so much effort into making my wedding dress just as I
requested. I wanted some alterations to the dress such as a lace up back and lifting the height of the back, and this
was done without any worries. My dress is beautiful and I would highly recommend this company to any bride wanting a
beautiful dress at 75% less the cost of retail dresses.

I would just like to point out that the collection at Circa Vintage Brides are made from the finest silk and are lined in silk satin. All our dresses are made in London, England. You will find that 95% of bridal dresses elsewhere are made from polyester and imported from China (source: Bridal buyer Magazine).
Our samples for brides to try are size 12, which will be the same for most UK Bridal stores. It would be too costly to stock every size in each design.
We make dresses to order and our brides range from an 8 to 18. Our samples are drycleaned regulary and may show signs of a snag here and there which is due to them being tried on on a weekly basis.
Circa Vintage Brides collection spans 1910 through to the 1970's. Corserty wasn't used until the 1950's, we have one boned dress which is a full length 1950's gown called Grace.
