Aristocrats of Chester, Cheshire

£60 for small alteration (apparently should have been £100). Would never recommend -this shop -paid enough for the item in the first place! BEWARE of this-it's a disgrace.

I would avoid visiting this shop - the staff are unhelpful and unenthusiastic and made me feel like I was wasting their time when I asked for alterations when my wedding dress had a problem (the inner lining was too big for the outer lining so there was a ridge in the middle of the dress which they dismissed).

I was charged £250 for alterations (for the hem to be taken up, a jacket altered and bust taken in). I ended up taking my dress out of the shop to get it altered properly (and so needed to pay an extra £40 for another seamstress to do the job properly). A dress shop nearby were appalled at the price of the alterations & told me that Aristocrats had a poor reputation.

There are lots of fabulous wedding dress specialists who make brides feel special but Aristocrats is not one of them. I found a dress I loved here but the staff were not bothered as soon as I paid the deposit.

Awful service.

Having tried on dresses in numerous other stores, I was very excited to come to Chester for the day to try on dresses. On arriving at the store, I was met by two miserable sales assistants. One of them stated that 'they didn't have much PLUS SIZE dresses in at present (I am a size 14) and that I should probably come back when there are more in. I have never been made to feel so fat and disgusting. I managed to try on a few 'plus size' dresses and I was forced to share a changing room with another bride. This totally ruined the whole experience for me. I would NEVER recommend this shop to any brides! The other bridal stores in Chester are so lovely and accommodating - visit those instead of aristocrats!

I recently visited Aristrocats with my Mum and Sister after booking an appointment for my first ever day of wedding dress shopping!! I can honestly say it was one of the most exciting couple of hours of my life!!

After reading some negative reviews, I was a bit nervous about what to expect and how we would be treated .. BUT the staff were amazing (especially the young girl looking after me but I can't mention her name :() Even after I rang to say we were running 15 minutes late, they were lovely!

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted only with smiles and positivity! The staff could tell how excited we were and added to that with their attentiveness!!

There was another girl trying dresses on at the same time (I arrived late and she arrived early) but this didn't pose a problem! We were each given a basket of little woolen hearts (I had purple, she had pink) to put on the hangers of each dress we wished to try on. Once we had chosen all of our dresses, the staff collected them altogether and took them to the fitting rooms.

Every dress I tried on was beautiful!! I initially tried 8 dresses on, which helped me choose the style that flattered my body shape and then the girl dressing me showed me all the dresses they stocked in this particular style on her iPad. I chose a further 3 and she scooted around the shop to find them for me! She helped me choose veils to match each dress and I never felt like I was rushed at all!

Having someone else try dresses on at the same time turned out to be lovely too as we both gave each other opinions, and both sets of family members sat chatting while we were getting ready for the next big reveal from behind the curtain ha!

I came away with a definite style of dress in my mind and a massive smile on my face! The girl looking after me wrote down my top 3 dresses and I'm set to go back to try just these on as one of them WILL be my dress :)

I rarely write reviews but I feel like this shop gets a bit of a battering on other reviews and so I felt I needed to share my amazing experience!

I can't wait to go back and purchase THE dress I'll be wearing to my big day in Greece 2016!!

My Daughter and I found Atristocrats whilst walking around Chester looking for a wedding dress. We were greeted by 'Do you have an appointment?', we said that we didn't but would we be allowed to look around. There are some lovely dresses in there and my Daughter had quickly picked out a few and was excited to try them on, but when we asked the assistant she said we had to have an appointment to try dresses on. We asked if we could make an appointment then (there was one customer in the shop, 3 or 4 changing rooms and at least 3 staff), another lady, who I presumed was the manager, made lots of tutting noises and said we might be able to get in the next day. We explained that we lived abroad, we were flying home the next morning, my daughter just wanted to try the dresses on, we didn't need a fitting because we would take the dress home and get it altered. As soon as we said this the Manageress had no interest at all, my Daughter wasn't allowed to try on any dresses without an appointment. So I would suggest to any customers going to Aristocrats it's 'By Appointment Only', don't expect well mannered or helpful staff - especially the lady in charge who should put herself on some Customer Care courses and try to smile occasionally. A very upsetting experience for me and my Daughter.

Well what can I say.... shocked and left feeling completely let down. My dress was a disaster!!! My wedding day is suppose to be the best day of my life however I was left in tears after collecting my dress and seeing the state it was left in with its poor stitching and odd fitting. I had to pay extra on top a few days before my wedding to have it sorted as best as it could be. The seamstress I found was amazed the shop assistants had sold a dress in this condition. The staff just don't seem to care and look down on you. thank you for your appalling service and ruining the happiest day of my life. Remember you are not better then everyone else so don't look down your nose at people!!!!

I was worried about going to my appointment after reading some of the reviews on here, but from the moment I stepped foot inside until the moment I left I loved every minute of my time at aristocrats! A girl was helping me & she was just amazing!! Yes the dresses have the odd mark, but this is to be expected as many people try them on! That does not mean the dress you buy will be like that! I was allowed time & was advised but not pushed, I can't say how much I enjoyed my experience here! I am going back with my maid if honour to show her the dress I am wanting to purchase! To be honest I had that much if a good time I'd go back every week just to play haha! It is a beautiful store with a lovely friendly atmosphere! Don't be put off by bad reviews!!! This place is awesome!

After reading mixed reviews about this shop I was a little worried about what to expect. Instead I found the staff to be very helpful, I'd emailed in advance about a dress in the sale that I'd fallen in love with and they had it to one side ready and waiting for me for when I arrived, I enjoyed the relaxed way of the shop as opposed to some pretentious shops I'd been to. The staff were happy for me to take photos of me in the dresses to send to my bridesmaid who couldn't be there that day. They offered me veils to try and provided excellent advice. I was under no pressure to buy and they didn't try and sell me a more expensive dress. I would recommend this shop to anyone, they have a fantastic selection of dresses and not one of the many I tried on was dirty as another reviewer suggested.

This is the second shop I have visited and it was the worst shopping experience ever.

I had booked in advance and when I arrived I was greeted with an awful selection of dresses, some of which were even stained, dirty and damaged. The quality of the gowns were terrible. However the most disappointing aspect was the staff. The customer service was a DISGRACE. Like other review-ers, they were totally uninterested, made no effort whatsoever at conversation - my mum had to suggest trying on veils that would go with the dresses, and the assistant made a huge fuss as if we were putting her out just to get a veil or shoes.

The gowns were way over priced for the 'quality'- or lack of!

The worst part was that there was another bride being attended to by someone else, and the assistant I had took more interest in the other bride than myself even though she had another member of staff with her. I was left to feel as if I was a nuisance and wasting their time. I will NEVER be visiting again and I implore anyone who is thinking of doing so to AVOID this shop at all costs!

I bought my dress here last year and have tried it on three times since. While the dresses and location are fab, the people working there seem pretty disinterested and there is a definite lack of enthusiasm for the customer and customer's dress. I have always felt like I'm intruding or putting the staff out. I appreciate that they must see a million brides, but this is each ones' 'special day' and wedding dress! While I don't expect fireworks, a smile and a bit of interest would go a long way.
