We found Brian Merry at the Calgary wedding fair in January 2013. We really liked that he was local to the Banff/Lake Louise area as that is where we were having our wedding. He was great to deal with in the beginning, he photographed our proposal, he was easy to schedule for our engagement photo’s and then that is when everything changed. We had paid Brian Merry in full before our wedding in July 2014 which is likely the biggest mistake we made. We wanted to use some of the photo’s from our engagement photo session for some of our materials for our wedding (our seating chart, some pictures around the present table and our invitations) but he would not sign any release form for our photo’s to be printed. He was extremely difficult to get a hold of to even discuss signing the release form so that we could print the photo’s. We ended up getting a different photographer to do another engagement session for us so that we would have some photo’s for our reception and invitations. He did show up to our wedding with 3 photographers as what was in the contract. We wanted photo’s of different family members but he did not want to work from a list of shots that we wanted. We needed to find someone in our wedding party to help organize a list of shots for him to take. Since the wedding, he only responded to 1 email, in November which was over 4 months after our wedding, and sent us our 1st draft of photo’s. In our contract we were supposed to have a picture slide show the day of the wedding which never did happen. We were also supposed to get an album but a year after our wedding we have still yet to receive that. Within the 1st draft of photo’s there are missing photo’s of family that were taken and we did not have any photo’s of just my wife and I looking at the camera at the same time. Over the past 8 months, he has ignored dozens of phone calls and emails. Our advice is to NEVER HIRE BRIAN MERRY for anything ever. He will never respond to any of your phone calls or emails as soon as he is paid. He has ruined our wedding experience and now we are considering proceeding with legal action. Please save your time and frustration and hire someone else.
