Sugarcraft Creations, Lindley, Huddersfield

Having been interested in cake decorating for a few years now, I can honestly say, hand on heart that this is the best place to go if you want quality products, reasonable/competitive prices and a warm, friendly helpful welcome. Never have I once had a bad experience whilst shopping here - quite the opposite!! The staff have always been willing to offer me advice on any aspect of cake decorating which is free!! They don't have to - after all, if you are making a cake for someone then its one less cake going through their shop. But no, always helpful, always cheerful and when I recently got married and decided that I didn't want the pressure of making my own cake, quite frankly it was a no brainer as to who to ask!! Our 4 tier fruit cake was stunning - classy, elegant and exactly what we had asked for. Moreover, the cake inside was beautifully moist and (unfortunately for me) far better than any fruit cake I have ever made!

The shop is always well stocked with a wide variety of products and a ribbon selection that would rival any other!! I always find what I am looking for and have been informed many a time that should I need anything ordering, then it wouldn't be a problem to order in.

I'm sorry that other people have used this site to leave less favourable reviews - and who am I to say that you are wrong. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion after all. But I just felt compelled after reading some of the reviews to leave my own, positive one. Because this place,and all who work there are fantastic producing high quality celebration cakes at very affordable prices.

I have been a valued customer of Sugarcraft Creations for over 17 years and I have never received anything other than an excellent, helpful and professional personal service. Lucia, June and the other ladies are fantastic. They cannot do enough to help if you are either booking a cake with them or you fancy having a go at doing your own cakes. Their help and advice over the years has been invaluable to me.

My sister bought a cake for her wedding from this shop and i have to agree with everybody, the staff were rude, didn't listen to what my sister wanted very dismissive of what my sister wanted, they did make the cake to her specifications but totally spoilt her experience of choosing a cake. When it came to collecting the cake they had packed the cake into a box already tiered up rather than individually which they said they would do, because the cake was travelling some distance. Which caused the cake to collapse fortunatly we were able to get someone else to fix it, who told us it didn't have the right supports in. For a business who calls themselves experts they made mistakes which were easily avoided and we didnt feel that care had been taken making the cake. The cake wasn't even edible because it was dry! A total waste of money a place i wouldn't recommend to anybody!!

I have just started my own cake making business and was looking for a shop to buy my bits and bobs... A friend told me about the shop in Lindley, and I said I would go as soon as I had chance. I actually managed to get many of the things I needed nearer to where I live but as we were passing through Lindley on saturday I deciced to stop in as I love checking out such shops and really could do with a new piping bag. My son and I arrived at the front door at possibly 2 minutes past 4... I noticed the shop closed at 4... I looked up to see a woman behind the counter...before I could do anything else I was rather rudley waved away accompanied with a huge shake of the head. I understand every shop has a closing time but I thought this rather un-nessesary given the shop must have litteraly just closed, and very bad customer service. I have worked with the public in hospitality and retail all my life and would always try to help the customer if possible. I will certainly not return to this shop and get all my supplies elsewhere.

I had a cake made here for a special occassion and it was dreadful, the woman did not listen to what I wanted and the cake was not at all what I had asked for, she argued with me that it was what I asked for and as I had stupidly paid in advance I had to take the cake but had it redecorated by a friend so that it was usable. When I ordered the cake I had a feeling that she was not listening to me as she was busy watching someone in the shop (treating them as though she thought they were shoplifting) A dreadful and very upsetting experience, don't ever complain in this shop the woman is rude and bully she does not deserve to have any customers, although it was last year when I bought this cake, after reading the other reviews I felt I needed to add my experience as well. I wish had read these reviews before shopping there, I have since found another shop in Holmfirth that although they don't sell cakes they give good advice and can recommend someone to make your cake for you.

As a regular customer to the Lindley shop, I can honestly say the adverse comments made from others are totally unjustifiable. The staff are always on hand to give me advise and guidance, very pleasant and polite. My job as a customer service assessor always makes me aware of service received when shopping and I would give the owner and staff in Lindley 10/10 for theirs. Could it be that these people have got the wrong Sugarcraft Creations ????????

This used to be the lovliest shop to visit but I agree with the other reviewers who say the staff and the service is poor since the change over of management. It seems they run the shop for themselves,not the customers who seem to irritate the staff with their enquiries. The previous owner could not do enough for you, but the attitude has changed to one of indifference and annoyance almost with the cutomer. Go elsewhere if you possibly can. This shop is not for the fainthearted or anyone learnign the art of sugercraft- and god help you if you need to check some details at home - you are not allowed to use your mobile phone!

Came here to enquire about a wedding cake, i have never come across such poor peoples skills! The staff were extremely rude i actually felt quite offended with her attitude. I live and work in the marsh/lindley area and i would never recommend them to anyone.

I have just started a cake decorating course at college and kept popping into this shop and spending my money to equip my self with what I needed each week - I purchased some small circle cutter for £1.51 all the sizes A-f. I then visited another shop that sold exactly the same for £1.9. I thought I would take back the circles to the shop at Lindley with the receipt and get a credit note so I could spend my money on other things I needed- well They were rude nasty and quite bullying- they refused to give me a credit note or refund - they even said they had never seen me before in the shop- I have shopped here for years having my wedding cake made and family celebration cakes- But I will never shop here again- I have lived in lindley most of my lift and supported local shops ad its important for the local economy- however this shop has lost my future busy and my frends and family-
