Pramland - After Visiting Many Shops Looking Fore
Pramland - After visiting many shops looking fore a pram/travel system for my daughter who's baby was due in October 08, we settled on a Gracco Travel system in May 08 and ordered and paid in full. We were assured that the pram would be in stock 4 weeks before the due date. In early Sept 08 we went to the shop and my daughter spent a small fortune on Mamas and Papas nursery goods. We were again assured that the pram would definitely be in time even though i did say the baby could come early as my daughter hadn't had a good pregnancy. Two weeks ago (beg of Oct) we were given a date for a C section the 13th. First Sarah rang the shop and was told the pram was out of stock! I then rang and spoke to a seemingly arrogant assistant who basically said that's the way the industry works? I wanted a date to when to expect the pram in. They then said somewhere between mid Oct and end of Oct. No point in panicking as they would be happy to rent us a car seat to take the baby home from the hospital. Or you could rent a pram off the shop floor!! I was furious. We then rang back last week and spoke to a manager who assured us they would keep contact and was hopeful of the pram being on the delivery for Friday 10th Oct.. It wasn't! We rang for that advise not her ringing us. My daughter again rang and was told that design was completely out of stock. I then went into the shop for a full refund. I feel that what is disgraceful about all this is that they say on their website that they keep in touch with the expectant Mum as they know how stressful things are and so the Mum doesn't have to contact them? Not once have we received any contact from them. We felt as though we had just been left high and dry and would not have got the pram for some weeks if ever after the event. We received no apology, no offer of another pram, nothing. The baby is due to be born today and we had to charge round the City trying to locate one and eventually managed to buy one from an internet site and twice the price. Even now i am nervous that it will arrive. We could have made alternative arrangements to source another pram, if we had been given time and with no stress. How can you justify this as being ok? What don't they understood in the fact that new mums want to see that pram in their house when they bring the baby home it is one of the exciting things a new mum to be enjoys... It seemed to me as if they take the money and orders and their attitude is, if they come in then all well and good if not they can have a refund and look elsewhere.
