Affleck's Palace, Manchester

Affleck's Palace is a Manchester institution. Situated off Picadilly, it is home to a number of eclectic shops selling clothing, shoes, accessories and other items. It exemplifies the spirit of Manchester and is hard to rate as one would a normal shops: it is a collection of haphazard shops selling unique and individual items dfor people who have their own sense of style and want to buy things that are interesting and not "off the peg."

Even when I go and don't buy anything, I still love going around. There is always something interesting to look at and everyone there is friendly and approachable. I know it sounds odd, but it is a great place to spend a couple of hours even if you don't particularly need or want anything.

Be warned, space can be at a premium and navigation can be awkward. It is, however, fascinating and great fun.
