Security Are Not Mental Health Friendly
A young man with mental health issues became unsettled and asked for security to come in case his agitation got out of control. When the security staff came all he did was antagonise the young man which caused the young man to become even more aggitated, when a family member came to calm the young man down, the security member not only contined to antagonise him but also followed him while at the same time sniggering and making suggestions that just led to the young man becoming more and more agitated. This behaviour of the security staff clearly shows that they are not mental health friendly and the attitude of the security staff member was appalling, instead of listening and showing compassion he just continued to antagonise the young man who was clearly experiencing quite a lot of distress. Hospital security really need to be more sensitive in regards to mental health issues, as the security staff at DRI clearly just don't care, which is appalling especially when there is so much information about mental health issues.
Disgraceful And Uncaring
Respiratory patients are left for long time periods, unable to access toilet facilities and with nurses who never seem to find anything which is their own responsibility, when dressings need changing etc it is always a case of " it's so and so who has to do that, they'll be along soon". Two hours later no one has been near! I was astonished to learn that in 2014 Ward 27 was commended for an award! Even when visitors complain to them they couldn't care less.
Good Care And Friendly Staff
I was referred to Doncaster Royal for back pain from my GP and I have found the staff very caring and efficient at the orthopaedic outpatient department. The consultant explained my problem to me and was very good at understanding my situation.
Thank you!
