Hard, Challenging, Unhelpful And Stressful
I am a foreign student who studied computer science at the university of Edinburgh. The IT and lab facilities are excellent for comp science students, but the excellence stops there, the coursework is extremely hard and challenging for most courses.Help from lecturers or tutors cannot be expected as they are mostly too busy researching. The slides used for courses are at best confusing with too little material on them. The exams can be depressingly difficult to score in-spite of being well prepared. Each subject should be tackled in a different manner or else you will FAIL the course no matter what!. As a foreign student I found the exams were easier to score than the complicated course works with absolutely ZERO marking guidelines. The coursework questions are either too VAGUE or too complicated to achieve without help from classmates who work on the same. So you need to make study groups very early on the course and take the same subjects for getting a masters degree. The students in my MSc program were very unhelpful, so I had to struggle through all the coursework on my own ONLY and did not manage to do too bad. I managed to do extremely bad at the assignments and so had to suffer when the exam results were announced. I had failed to get and MSc and got a PG Diploma. However I have to say that it was a narrow miss as I had done most of the exams extremely well. So I will not recommend this course to anyone, it was not value for MONEY as far as I was concerned!
