Review Of Ashenhurst
Area: Is ok but some shady characters hang around outside the entrance, although these are mainly under 16s. However it is a good distance from Uni!
Security: All the maintenance men are lovely! They are always willing to help you and are there for a chat!
Kitchen: Oven is poor, it just about cooks your food and don't put the hob on 6 or your food will get overcooked and ruined especially with rice! as I know from past experience. The table has seating for 4 despite being a house for 6 or 8. This is annoying if you all want to eat together!
Bathroom: Good bath but the water pressure is shocking and the downstairs shower is tiny but has better pressure. However I don't find sharing a bathroom a problem at all!
Bedroom: Good size! Cozy and warm! You can make it your own with photos and cushions!
Overall would definitely recommend! It has a nice community feel as everyone recognises each other! It is not too noisy at night so you can get a good nights sleep!

Before You Pay Or Sign Up To Anything, Read This!:
BEFORE YOU PAY OR SIGN UP TO ANYTHING, READ THIS!: If you wish to keep your sanity levels high, DO NOT choose STANDARD accommodation! One, they're absolutely disgusting! Dirty, grubby, worn down little 'houses' that are cold in the winter and warm in the summer.
Two, they smell (even after spending hours of cleaning!) the kitchen floor... well... I honestly don't know how to describe it any more. The whole house is a danger to live in. Fridge doors have fallen off, toasters have blown up, the oven door handle has fallen off numerous times, and I like to think of myself as a SAFE AND CAREFUL PERSON!
Three, the windows throughout the house are single glaze, meaning that no matter how hard you try, you will always feel the breeze coming through.
Four, well... all I'm going to say is, get to the laundrette early, or don't even bother. There are about 5... 6 machines for about... 270 plus students... I don't really think that works :/ ??
The pictures shown on the accommodation site are of the deluxe accommodation, and THEY'RE fine! They're more comfortable, to say the least, and they're more homely. Not like those horrible, cheap, grubby little standard establishments.
There is also a huge hill to walk up to get back to the 'accommodation' which is a real pain in the winter when walking both up and down it!
I wish I was given this advise before I signed up the accommodation, and really hope those of you who ARE thinking about living in STANDARD, think long and hard. I would NOT live there again, not even if they paid me! Yes, the people I have met there are great, and I've had some good times, and yes it's cheaper than deluxe, but IT'S NOT WORTH IT! I promise you!
I moved out early just to get away from that 'house' and the absolute disgusting state that it's in. It even makes me feel sick thinking about it!
My advise, choose deluxe and enjoy. You'll be safer and more comfortable. You'll even have a nice shower and bathroom, not some stained, worn-down little 'room' with nothing but a cheap tatty curtain to pull along behind a door that fails to shut properly.
And I'M NOT EXAGGERATING! If I could choose again, I would choose deluxe. Full stop. I hope THIS information helps. At least it gives a true and honest picture!
I escaped with my sanity intact!! Really I did!!! :D

I Loved My Time Living At Ashenhurst. The Place It
I loved my time living at Ashenhurst. The place itself is small but that means you get to know everyone that lives there and because of that there is a great feeling of community. You know your neighbours and that lets you relax into your surroundings especially if it's your first time living away from home as it was for me.
The rooms are large enough to hold all your necessities but the main plus point is the kitchen/living area which is a very social space. This is where I spent much of my time chilling out with housemates and having a good time!
Although there are few amenities on site which some may see as a problem, everything is only a 10 minute walk down the hill (or you can catch the subsidised bus which is £5 for the year) into town, so I never found that an issue.
Overall, for a safe and fun way of venturing into university life, I can't think of anywhere better than Ashenhurst!
Simon, second year Ashenhurst student.

The Supervisor of security Saen was really rude, the area is really rough and is not a very good location for a student village, people get mugged and beaten up very often. There was a bloke called Dennis who worked there he was funny and helped people mend anything that broke.

I Picked Lively Student Accommodation In Ashenhurs
I picked lively student accommodation in Ashenhurst Houses, Huddersfield. It's great, clean, close to campus and close to town. I love living here and am glad I picked this accommodation. The only downside is that on a Thursday most of my direct neighbours go out as they don't have lectures on Friday. I do so when they get back and have their 'after parties' it's a bit annoying, but I picked lively for a reason and it's great the rest of the time ... just tired on Fridays.
