If You Are A Parent Considering Spending The &poun

If you are a parent considering spending the £5500 it costs to send your young person to this accomodation for 'peace of mind' DON'T. Please DON'T. There is no security and the set up is so badly managed the place is in riot. The rooms are OK if somewhat small and functional but the calibre of the tenants is questionable and as many of them dont pay for it with their own hard earned cash they do not care. Imagine living with all the kids at school who were the wasters, the ones who spent most of their time making other peoples lives a misery, suddenly they leave or are chucked out of school and realise they need an education - well Telford is where folk like that end up and many of them live in the 'halls'. Paid for by bursaries because they are not yet 18. Then imagine the place being run by a money making organisation who only wants the cash but are not perpared to take steps to keep the accomodation in good repair or even clean, they certainly won't throw the trouble makers out because they will lose revenue. Oh and if you decide that living there is hell you cant get out either because the lease agreement is watertight and in your kids name so they get the bad credit rating if you decide to pull. The fire alarm goes frequently and in the coldest week in December the residents were out every night, sometimes twices a night.(To note that after fire alarms there is no heating or hot water in the morning) Someone threw up along the first floor corridor and stairs, it was not cleaned up for 2 weeks. There is spit on the stair windows and blood on the walls. There is only CCTV at the entrance after that there is no security outwith office hours. If you call the help number they may not even know who you are or what you are talking about. Student wardens are appointed but they come from the group of people described above. They have access to all the flats and randomly walk into your flat unannounced if they fancy (even if you are not in and help themselves to your kitchen ingredients), as does the CRM management team. Granton is not a good area and local yobs frequently get into the building, one poor girl came across one of them breaking into the vending machine. I could go on and on, please do not live here, you can get a super room to rent for less.
