Absolute Hovel

Waverley House was total dive when I lived there throughout 2009/2010.

As we were all *FInally* leaving the place it seemed that alot of rumours were circulating about the whole building being renovated due to its unsuitability for use as accomodation.

Personally, we had many problems with our shared flat.

The overflowing toilet was the 1st problem and Unite didnt make much of an effort to fix it. They only really took notice when the actual toilet bowl itself came away from the floor and flooded the whole corridor!

They didnt bother to clean the carpet so we had to pay to get it done.

Secondly the electric hob wouldnt turn off meaning that we couldnt use it for fear of it overheating - they didnt remedy this problem whilst we were living there at all and I imagine it went unchecked.

A carpenter came to replace a toilet door which was falling off at the hinges, he replaced it with a door that didnt even fit and left our whole flat filled with saw-dust and general rubbish.

We were on the 11th floor of the building and alot of the windows had no fail-safe guards on them to prevent something/someone falling.

The Unite staff are appalling and will tell you anything to get you out of the office.

Do not be tempted by the bullcrap they peddle on their website - it really is tripe.

This is a real hovel of a place for a rediculous ammount of money - honestly you could pay a small mortgage with what they charge.

Today Somebody Got Stuck In The Lift, The Fire Bri

Today somebody got stuck in the lift, the fire brigade turned up to let them out and their first comment was "this is a s**t hole". It's a complete con, it's dirty, the rooms are small, the maintenance is slow and often doesn't get carried out at all, there's nowhere to park, and it's very expensive. Next year I'll be renting a real house for literally half the price of what I'm paying now. If I had ever known what living here was like, I never would have signed the contract. Unite constantly bombard you with emails telling you to set up a direct debit, I tried to pay my rent by cheque and they wouldn't take it, so I posted it to them with a letter saying if they didn't accept it they would have to sue me for the money, and guess what suddenly accepting a cheque isn't a problem any more. The bottom line in unless you want to feel depressed for paying a fortune to live in small, smelly, dirty, depressing accommodation, avoid Unite like the plague.
