Cache Award Level 3 In Teaching And Supporting In Schools
I would recommend the CACHE award Level 3 in teaching and supporting in schools course very much as I’ve just completed and it was very beneficial. It was really enjoyable and I feel that I learned a lot. I had quick responses to every email I sent whenever I needed help or correcting my assignments. I had a great help from my tutor as well. If you are working as a teaching assistant, I do recommend this course for you.

Teaching Assistant Course
Be careful!
I was interested in the level 3 teaching assistant course and was happy that there was a practical element to the course. It was unclear if the school were required to assess me and also if there would be site visits from Stonebridge. I was given two conflicting pieces of information by two separate representatives. When I queried it I got a huffy response. Obviously, I was the customer from hell. However, in the end it transpired that there were no site visits from Stonebridge and no teacher had to assess my work.
The school however, did give me advice. They wanted me to be assessed by someone from an outside agency and they were happy for one of their teachers to assess my work. They did not want me to embark on practical work with no outside support. I have since found a course at my local college which can set this up professionally. Thank goodness I spoke to the school. I am frightened that people who take up the Stonebridge course may find there are better and more professional options out there. Do spend the time and look at the local courses. I think you will be much better off.

School Did Not Accept It!!!
I brought a course from the Teaching assistant centre and was contacted by stonebridge associated colleges which ran the course. After i got my certificate i applied for many jobs but was refused all of them for some reason despite being better than many of the TA's i've seen in terms of grades. Eventually a school employed me but when my certficate was seen by HR i was told it was worthless!
I am in the process of getting a refund and if I dont get one, i will be writing many more reviews like this, all over the net. I hope soemone from that company is reading this.
I would give it a 0 star if it was allowed!

Trust Me: Ncfe Is Not Recognised By Schools
Hello
I would seriously consider asking local schools if they will even recognise this course because my school did not, and I had to do another course which was called CACHE.
NCFE home study courses are worthless, that is the exact words from the head mistress!
Well I did the NCFE Level 3 Teaching Assistant Diploma course with Stonebridge Associated Colleges and volunteered for several years in a primary school. I have now started my first job as TA in an independent school - the job advertisement wanted NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and they accepted my qualification.
Your home study course (teaching assistant) is accredited by NCFE but is not an NCFE course.
Accrediting means that NCFE has agreed with the people / business selling the course, that their systems are OK but NOT that the course is a qualification.
The people/business selling the course must show that it is their course and is not an NCFE course as such. They must also emphasise that the course is not a qualification nor does is qualify for credits within the QCF or NQF (get onto the OfQual site & all should be made clear!).
It is just a distance learning course for personal development and carries no official status in terms of regulated qualifications.
NCFE, as an awarding body, has regulated courses that have been approved through OfQual i.e. OfQual have regulated the course's quality and content. Only regulated courses carry weight that is recognised by schools etc.
Hope this helps - I come across this many times in my line of work

Top Marks For A Great Teaching Assistants Course
I really enjoyed completing this course. It's my first home study course so I didn't really know what to excpect, but NCC offered plenty of help and they were on hand to support me via email and phone just when I needed it. In the beginning it wasn't clear how long I'd have to wait for my assignments to be marked, but once this was clarified, I got a good turnaround and helpful feedback.
The tutors are really helpful, and the admin staff are knowledgeable and patient - great service from start to finish. The course material is well presented and clear - it all works together really well and it's perfect if you want to top up your knowledge about a new career choice.
I'll definitely be booking my next course straight away!
Thank you for your kind comments Lesley. Great to see you studying another course with NCC Home Learning.
