Ok... But Going To A College Would Be Better

I did an access course with the distance learning centre.

My tutor was nice enough but I found the whole experience very stressful.

The problems I had

1) I felt I met the criteria of the questions in depth and answered it fully but I kept getting merits rather than distinctions. Even though when I was at college the year before I got distinctions every time. DLC's marking seemed very unfair. I ended up dropping out because of this as it seems no matter what I included in my assignments I couldn't get a distinction, even though I got loads of them at college. Which makes me wonder if it's actually more them then it is me.

2) The course itself was expensive and over £50 a fortnight. When I fell behind I was told to email the person in charge (forgot his name) to see if he can help with adjusting the payments to make them more affordable. When i did this I just got a pointless email back from him. Saying If I couldn't afford them then how did I expect to pay when the payments increased further on down the line when they ask for payment for both the exam and the fortnightly payment at the same time. So, of course this wasn't very helpful and it seems neither this person in charge or the tutors cared much about people dropping out because of not being able to afford the course. Wouldn't it be better to lower payments and keep students doing the course then allowing them to drop out? Wasting everyone's time and the money they have already paid.

3) You get much more support from a college. DLC will not spoonfeed you the answers so if your someone who needs a lot of support or if you need it explained in a more clear way then DLC is not the way to go.
