Xen-Tan Dark Tanning Lotion

I am SO angry with 2 of the girls at Nordstrom that sold me on Xen-Tan. They EACH told me that once applied, the 'tan' would last 5 to 7 days. I was thrilled to hear that. I can't tell you how surprised I was when in the shower I saw all the water washing off of me looked dirty. Once OUT of the shower I saw why---virtually NOTHING left to my so-called 'suntan'. This product is just too expensive to wash off. I'm taking it back.

I wouldn't have thought to leave a review for this, but spotted it along the sidebar and so had to let people know just how great it is!

I have used EVERY type of fake tan, believe me, but I don't like that tacky orange look.. I'm aiming for a natural, just back from a great holiday glow. I also hate the smell and mess of most self tanners, which really puts me off.

So when I tried Xen Tan, I was in heaven. Really easy to apply, beautiful colour and absolutely NO biscuit smell. It also comes out olive instead of orange which makes you look far more natural.

I also got a free mitt when I bought it, which was really helpful. (Don't know if that is standard, but I was very happy with it!).

I had high hopes for this product given the fact that it claimed to give an "olive undertone", was long lasting and didn't have that typical DHA scent to it. I was excited to try it but found that it just didn't deliver. It provides instant color which is nice, but it is VERY messy. You have to wash your hands for a good 2 or 3 minutes with soap to get it off. It's also TERRIBLY messy while you're wearing it. It will rub off on ANYTHING it touches - just like a liquid foundation. I kept the product on overnight, excited about the gorgeous "olive undertone" that I would have left in the morning. Well, to my disappointment after I showered, I was left with nothing. The instant tan washed off and didn't leave ANY sunless tan at all.

So if you're interested in a "one day tan" that you apply like make up, this is a good product for you. But in that case I would suggest instead just buying a liquid foundation and save yourself 50 bucks.

I was pretty impressed with this lotion. I was a little nervous after reading some reviews...but from my experience it has been wonderful! There was no streaking, (I did use my hands to put on the lotion...but scrubbed really well after and they turned out just fine). My skin is fair, and normally will turn that yucky orangish color with other self tanners. This gave me a brown color - exactly what I was hoping for! I think it is WELL worth the money. I am one happy customer! :)

Keep it short and sweet.. for people that want slight colour Xen Tan dark lotion would be good for you :)

For people like me who enjoy a deep tan your better off going else where unless you dont mind doing more than 1 application.

For me to get the colour I want especially on my legs I have to do 3 applications which is a pain considering Xen Tan isnt exactly one of the cheaper brands on the market today.

It does smell nice when it goes on but within an hour or 2 the typical fake tan smell appears.. application was AWFUL! Patchy.. streaky.. no way could I have gone out in public with this on developing.

But in all fairness after a shower the next day the tan is flawless so aslong as you know you have applied it evenly no worries!

I'd give this tanner maybe a 5/10 .. maybe if I got the deep colour I achieve after a few applications on the first one it would be a 7 or 8 :)

i cannot stand the smell of other self tanning creams but this one you get a nice smell straight away and next day you can smell a tiny bit but not much.

I have had no streaks when. Use the MIT as I don't apply much and keep going over rubbing the same bits in.

I don't use that much either but top up every 5days

I bought this stuff expecting miracles and the first time I applied it I ended up getting extremely angry that I had wasted my money! BUT then I tried another way of applying and I absolutely love this stuff!

When I first applied this stuff I used a tanning mit - BIG MISTAKE it just seemed to drag the product around causing massive streaks all over, so then I tried applying with gloves and again a big streaky mess! at this point I'd washed it off twice and had lost all faith in this 'wonder' tan. Anyways I left it months having decided I hated it, then just looking online someone suggested using your hands to apply, so I gave it a go - It went on so much easier and completely smoothly! However orange hands so washed them with soap and water and it did all come off (but takes 10mins). The colour result from this product is exceptional - no orange in sight and there are no streaks - WHATSOEVER! Just a lovely deep brown colour!

After a few more tries I fould that vinyl gloves work best as they are smooth and not clingy - they dont drag the product! DO NOT USE NITRILE GLOVES they will just drag and pull the product and you end up with huge streaks, the gloves have to be vinyl as theyre smooth and slippery.

Bad bits then - smells nice going on, kind of marzipan smell to it but alas as it starts to develop the usual fake tan spicy smell shows up! but its not too awful, I usually apply before bed then wash off in the morning (it will stain your sheets so put a towel down)

I apply this to my face hands and feet with a make up sponge - gives a lighter coverage and no streaks!

I recommend this stuff to everyone - its fab and although its not perfect its the best I've ever used! People comment ususally asking where I've been on holiday not what fake tan do I use!

I have used xen tan dark lotion for 3 maybe 4 yr now , I am soooo pale (like a ghost) I love the colour after first application but once guide colour is washed off I need to apply another coat :( I have never bought another fake tan since I tried this! It smells gr8 at first but as it develops you can start to smell the dreaded fake tan smell,its not too bad tho and after first shower you cant smell it.

Aplication is easy with their mitt ,if you find it hard to apply with the mitt and feel it going streaky,it could be the bodywash u use as some body washes leave oil on the skin and oil makes a barrier for fake tan and it produces a streaky tan! This happened to me when I used dove , I changed to baby soap and NOW GET IT STREAK FREE!

I use make up sponge on feet ,ankles and hands with half moisturiser and half tan on it!

Overall a great fake tan just a bit pricey and the colour could be darker!

Don't waste your money on this tanning product. This is by far the worst tanner I have ever used. I have tried other tanners in the past that only cost ten dollars and worked soo much better than Xen. It gave me an Orange tan. I only tried it b/ c I was looking for a tanner that smelled better. Although this xen tanner has a light scent its horrible to tan with. I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Save your money
