“Absolutely awful”

Possibly the most incompetent, rude and useless law firm I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. Totally inept, and unable to answer even the most basic of inquiries in a timely manner. I am considering suing them for their dreadful unethical behaviour.

We used GW as we were governed by our mortgage lender which solicitor we could use when purchasing our property. I would avoid GW at all costs. Not only are they expensive, they wouldn't know what good customer service is if it hit them in the face! On multiple occasions they contradicted themselves, and didn't even know the details of our case - telling us the process of buying a flat will easily take 12-14 weeks, we were buying a house & calling my husband the wrong name. On top of their ridiculous costs, if you want to speak to them (which you will need to do several times a day to make sure they remember to deal with your case) you have to phone an 0845 number which set us back an additional £150 for just one month! The whole process took several months for a simple purchase - there was no chain! They have no sense of urgency, they use a third party to conduct the searches on your property which costs you more money and they are just as poor as GW! I raised all my concerns with the head of department, expressing my concerns of the poor service and communication and I had to chase a response from them several times. When I did get a reply to my formal complaint, they just stated back to me what I said and ignored the issue I had with the poor communication & service. If you want to purchase a property in a timely manner, pay reasonable fees and feel valued as a customer, THEN STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! They caused us nothing but stress. The time I spent chasing them, phoning other organisations to find out GW had been trying to get our purchase completed was absolutely unacceptable for the money we were paying and the service you expect. They absolutely should be ashamed of themselves. Look on their Facebook page, doesnt give you the option to leave a review, unlike other companies and is filled with 'take your dog to work' & 'after work drinks' speaks volumes for the image of a so called professional company they like to think they are!!

“Brilliant Service”

Was brilliant and kept us informed every step of the way. The service we received from Goldsmith Williams was faultless. We wouldn't hesitate using this Company in the future and would highly recommend Goldsmith Williams to family and friends.

They ask for information, which is provided, then ask for more information, which is provied, then ask for more...etc It is as though they had never done this before and are learning on the job. They are so slow, do not communicate and just keep on working out how much extra they can add onto the bill. NEVER use them. If you find out that your lenders use them, change lenders, it will save you months of grief. I am attempting to buy a property. It has so far taken 5 months because of these feckless wombles. They ask for things that would be illegal for me to answer owing to the data protection act, and the ask for things that cannot be provided until we have an undertaking that they will advance the funds, which they will not advance until they have the information. They are useless. They only get 1 star because I cannot give them none! AVOID

Exactly the same position, they've reviewed something, sent queries back, once they've been dealt with, they review, and send further queries, once answered, they return further queries ....! 6 times this has happened in a row.

They've come back TWICE now (this is a common trait of them) saying they've not received something, which has be resent with a READ RECEIPT to prove it was sent.

“Incompetent, Idiots, avoid at all costs”

Not helpful, times scales and dead lines a joke, do not keep you informed, you have to do all the chasing both to them, the banks other 3rd parties which is what you pay them for but the icing on the cake was after a very stressful house purchase they decided 3 months later they " forgot to charge me the indemnity insurance " so want me too pay now !!!! Total incompetence!!! So far have sent 2 letters both with different amounts on saying what I iwe them and if I don't pay the will proceed with CXJ's etc !!! I wouldn't even rate them a 1

“Shocking - they're cold calling now”

I used these people four years ago - through my mortgage brokers - and although the mortgage went through fine I was appalled today to receive a sales call from them offering to do a PPI search for me. What a bunch of losers! I said I did not want to be cold called and that they should not be doing this. I told my brokers and they said that they had cut all connections with the company when they found them cold-calling people and trying to sell them will-writing, PPI search and the like. They should be closed down. If they are resorting to cold calling like this they can't be getting any work and I assume it's because no one is recommending them

“Incompetent – AVOID AT ALL COSTS”

I was forced to use these guys as they were on the panel of the lender and I wish I never used that lender; I would have paid a higher rate just to not use Goldsmith Williams. their communication is atrocious; they have teams which do the transactions and they obviously don't talk to each other either as they never had a clue about my transaction. my sale did not exchange for certain reasons and they still charged a full fee. DISGRACEFUL SERVICE FROM START TO FINISH

“Useless and Incompetent ”

The service I received from this firm was disgusting, the two people I had correspondence with were rude and incompetent. I would not recommend this firm to anyone. Please stay away and go elsewhere. They took over 2 years to sort a simple personal injury claim. They did not contact me or update me and when asked,they said they can't as they have to get the expense for contacting me from the third party. I was under the impression that sending an email was free. All I wanted was an update of what they were doing on my case - apparently nothing - since it took so long to get my money which was £1000 less than what they actually quoted me. Useless and incompetent is an understatement, just don't even with this firm.

“Rude and useless”

Am currently sitting on the stairs of my house waiting to move with a packed van, and am pregnant and today was promised to be our move date. William Goldsmith haven't got the funds transferred from our buyers, everyone else in the chain is sorted. Ring them up and they were so rude on the phone and now looks like we won't be moving and no one is going to compensate the costs we have incurred. Where do u suggest a pregnant woman sleeps tonight William Goldsmith? I literally do not have a stick of furniture in this house. Disgusting you should be ashamed of yourself.

“Use only if you don't want to move”

I would like to recommend that people DO NOT use Goldsmith Williams solicitors under any circumstances. They represent my vendors, and on the day the sale was due to exchange it became apparent they had lost client files with the certified copies of passports for their client, they also raised low level admin queries that should have been highlighted and addressed weeks ago. Do not use this firm if you want a stress free house move and don't want to risk your entire chain collapsing due to inefficiency and very poor management.
