Sub: Washing Machine gets problem soon on completion of Guarantee period.
Ref: Samsung silver nano fully automatic top loading washing machine.
Model No. WA80TALEC / XTL
Machine Serial no. W 0615ZCQ700115D
We had purchased the above-mentioned washing machine from an authorised dealer of Samsung on 22 August, 2008. It has thus completed just 2 years after the date of purchase- out of which we had been out of country for 4 months period (October 2009 to January 2010) when it was not at all used.
Thus, the machine has actually been used just for 2 years. We take full care of our machine by way of its proper and careful use and keeping it clean and properly covered. However, on 14 February, 2011 it had some operating problem requiring the help of local Samsung service centre. The complaint had been registered under regn. No. 8430304818 of 15/02/2011. The service centre has repaired it but charged a whooping sum of Rs. 2533 towards replacement of PCB and few other parts and towards labour charges, taxes, etc. This has pinched us a lot because we had to shell out this amount just after 2 years of usage. Further, the service engineer also told us that the newly replace PCB has a guarantee cover of only one month as per co. rules.
We had, earlier used Whirlpool fully automatic washing machine for 16 years (i.e. October 1992 to August 2008). For the first six years, this machine had absolutely no (zero) maintenance expenditure. Thereafter during the subsequent ten years of its usage the aggregate expenditure we had incurred on this machine was about Rs. 6000 only.
Despite such a nice experience with our previous machine (Whirlpool), when we decided to buy a new one, for a change we chose for Samsung because we presumed that it has a better brand image and a higher technology. However, we felt shattered when we got the bitter experience just on completion of 2 years of the use of our new machine.
Does our experience mean one or more of the following? :
- We were wrong when we decided to buy Samsung washing machine despite our satisfactory experience with Whirlpool machine.
- Samsung is not a dependable and reliable brand.
- Samsung products have the satisfactory operating life equivalent to their guarantee period only- beyond that they require whooping maintenance expenditures.
- We should never buy or recommend for purchase of Samsung products.
If Samsung management feels that our abovementioned inference is correct, we have nothing to say.
However, if it feels that we are not correct on any of our above-mentioned statements, can it redress our grieviences by either complete free replacement of the washing machine or at least full refund of the service charges paid by us plus an extended free and unconditional guarantee for another two to three years for the existing machine?
We had written sevaral mails to Samsung for redressing our griviences but there was no response.
