Problems With My Maytag Sav205daww

I bought this washer in 2005. Since then it has been repaired four times. The dial started skipping cycles and had to be replaced, the machine ran very loud and shook, the clutch had to be rebuilt, and now the tub is leaking. What a huge disappointment. It may not have been the most expensive model, but it was a lot of money for me. Now I have to replace it after 7 short years. My Mom has had the same Kenmore washer for 20 years and never had a repair. I guess I know what brand to purchase next!

Maytag Washer- A Piece Of Junk!

I'm surprised that my Maytag washer only lasted 5 years. My old one was GE and had run for more than 10 years when I took over. I had used it for another 10 years without problem. For some new functionarities, I replaced with this maytag. Unforturnately, I got a piece of junk ....

I have owned my Maytag Model SAV205DAWW Washer for about three years and

it appears that the transmission has failed. Like the other reviewers, I had waited late in life to be able to afford a Maytag, only to find that the company was purchased by Whirlpool and now A VERY BAD BUY! I am sick at heart at the way we were all taken advantage of on this brand, after growing up with the image of a Maytag repairman who was lonely because no one ever called him.

This is simply criminal, and nothing short of robbery! Now, we cannot feel good about ANY purchase of an appliance, since past performance and history of a company has no relationship with what exists now. I will consult my CONSUMER REPORTS buyers guide before giving any company my money in the future. Folks, we were all robbed!

I am shocked at the amount of reviews here with the same problem as mine! I've had mine for about 7 years, and just tolerated the loud noises because I couldn't afford to replace or repair. Then, over time, 3 of the 4 paddles inside snapped off. Then the bottom started leaking. Paid $70 for a service call, and now the man wants $45 for the seal, and another $70 for the labor. That's half of what I paid for the thing years ago!!! Never again...

Maytag is a piece of junk, lasted maybe 3 years, the drain hose wore through due to rubbing on sharp flanges inside the unit which I replaced. Then the loud roar in spin cycle, now the tub leaks. $400 to repair, I think not! Never buy Maytag period.

I agree with the prior poster who said this is a horrible washer... I am a single person so I only wash 2 loads per week and my washer just turned 5 and is already leaking from teh triple seal. A very expensive thing to fix (estimate was $400). The repairman suggested I just buy a new washer and I said it definitely would not be a Maytag - never again. Piece of junk!!!

I wasn't surprised to see other similar reviews of the Maytag sav205daww washer. After 4 years ours too started leaking from the bottom. The tech' quoted us $350 to repair bearings and a seal. He said, "If it was really a Maytag it would be simple." He went on to say that Maytag bought out another company and are now putting their name on junk. Fool me once, shame on you . . . . I'll never buy Maytag again! My last washer (Whirlpool) lasted 15 years without incident.

This SAV205DAWW was my first and last Maytag. I only bought Maytag because it was told me to be dependable & the best. Not so. Warranty had expired. I was advised by a tech that washer was leaking water from the bottom of tub. It was the seal that needed to be replaced. I decided to buy another washer in lieu of having this one fixed.

I Just Tossed Out My 4 Year Old Maytag Washer Mod

I just tossed out my 4 year old Maytag washer model SAV205DAWW that I purchased at Home Depot. I originally bought it because of the name, Maytag, and the dependability it advertised. Not so.

I had one service call while it was still under warrantee. This was for the loud noise it made while agitating. It was repaired and worked fine for about a year. Then I noticed the increasingly loud noise it made during the spin cycle. Then It started leaking water at the bottom. By this time, my Maytag sounded like a freight train going through my home. Of course this happened AFTER I let my extended warrantee expire. I checked all hoses, they were fine. I paid a tech to tell me it was the seal at the bottom of the tub and that the bearings became bad due to the water leaking on them which contributed to the loud noise it was making. I decided not to have it repaired due to the expense and no guarantee this model wouldn't develop other problems. I called Maytag and they said they would only cover the transmission and that this didn't sound like a tranny problem. Well, it's out of my life and I will never buy another Maytag!

Note: Due to economic hard times, I let my extended warrantee expire this past May. The warrantee would have cost me more than I paid for the washer!

Very disappointed.
