Unavailability Of Spares
Had this machine for 4 years 8 months. It gets a hammering. Bearings need replacing. Part required is "obsolete, no longer available no substitute available" WTF! I do not expect my washing machine to be unrepairable due to obsolescence before it's even 5 years old! I expect common everyday spares to be available for at least 10 years, if not forever. this is not a fashion item to be chucked and forgotten, and it's not cheap either. Very annoyed.
I bought LG because it was an expensive and (I thought) better quality make. I was unable to find anyone except LG's chosen repair organisation to look at it. As soon as I said LG they all said "No Chance". The chosen ones charged me £80+ for a 'diagnostic' visit. I already knew it was the bearing but this visit was non negotiable. I was told that the machine was obsolete and parts were no longer available. The bearing is replaced by changing the whole back of the machine, which is only available from LG, who, as they knew, had non. £80+ to be told what I already knew, and they already knew from my telling them the symptoms. Not illegal but certainly immoral. I now have a Zanussi from John Lewis with a 5 year warranty, all for considerably less than the LG. LG won't get my business ever again. And I bet the Zanussi parts will be available for the next 10 years at least.
you must have been looking in the wrong places because parts for these machines are readily available in alot of places- 5 years isnt too bad for a machine that gets a hammering, it all depends on how you use it. eg, if you use gel instead of powder and lower temperatures the bearing and seals wont last as long

L.g. Has Horrible Customer Service And Horrible Ap
L.G. has horrible customer service and horrible appliances. God forbid your warranty runs out because they will provide you the wrong information about parts and not take responsibility. I tried to talk to the head manager, I was told that even though she was in the building she would not receive calls. If this is a company you want to deal with enjoy!!!

This Washer Is Great,we Have A Family Of Seven,we
THIS WASHER IS GREAT,WE HAVE A FAMILY OF SEVEN,WE DO SIX TO EIGHT LOADS OF WASHING EVERY DAY! AND UP TO NOW WE HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS, WE HAVE HAD THE WASHER FOR FOUR YEARS NOW SO WORK OUT HOW MANY LOADS WE HAVE WASHED!!!!!!THE ONLY FAULT WE CAN PICK WITH IT IS THE CHILD LOCK FUNCTION,YES IT LOCKS ALL OF THE FUNCTION BUTTONS EXCEPT THE POWER BUTTON,WHICH TO US SEEM'S A BIT DAFT AS YOUR CHILD CAN TURN THE WASHER OFF THEN YOU HAVE TO START THE WASH CYCLE ALL OVER AGAIN!!! WHICH IS A BIT FRUSTRATING WHEN THE WASH CYCLE HAS NEARLY FINISHED,I WOULD RECCOMEND ANY LG WASHER AS THEY ARE REALLY RELIABLE.

We Were In Much Doubt Where To Buy This Washer, We
We were in much doubt where to buy this washer, we always had German 'top' brands like Miele and Bosch... After having used the LG for over a year I safely say that we are extremely pleased with it; its whisper quiet, We can run it at night without disturbing any of our neighbors. It cleans MUCH better than the Bosch it replaced.
