Hotpoint WT761P

We have owned our machine for 3 years and like other reviewers here it has now fully broken. I have taken the view its better to get a new machine (NOT a hotpoint!) rather than pay to have them come out and look at it. This is based on the poor reviews I have read about their parts guarantee and the fact that I have had 2 of their freezers which have also broken within 3 years.

Hotpoint provide a useless 5 year parts guarantee with their products but although Hotpoint confirm that all parts for my 3 year old washing machine are available and that any parts required would be provided, they contradict this by stating that they would not repair the machine if THEY cosidered that the repair was too expensive. They charge a labour fee of £104.99. and even if THEY decide not to repair, will still charge for the call out.

My request to speak to a Manager was denied and this illustrates the contempt which they have for their customers. MY ADVICE, DO NOT BUY HOTPOINT. Who in my view are in breach of the Trade Descriptions Act for the guarantee states "PARTS REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE". NOT Parts replaced unless we decide not too. If all parts are guaranteed and you are paying them to replace them, then you should end up with a machine that works. Why should you pay for a service that they do not fulfill.

This Hotpoint WT761P should be a great machine but it's the only washing machine I've ever owned that's gone wrong in the first 3 years. (It will now only do a slow spin 800 rpm.) It's also the first Hotpoint I've ever owned, so it's disappointing.

Overall, I am very pleased with the machine. 269 from Dixons online. Excellent delivery service from Dixons too.

The support line has been slightly worse than useless as some of the staff have been very offensive on two occasions, both to me and my wife. We have made no demands on the staff and were very patient, but they didn't want to know. I think Hotpoint are waiting until the 12 month warranty is up so they can get shot of it.

Avoid this machine and Hotpoint for that at all costs!!!

So far best washing machine I have owned although have only had for 2 weeks.
