Bosch Wok2001gb - In Late 2001 I Purchased The Was
Bosch WOK2001GB - In late 2001 I purchased the washing machine. I chose Bosch because I wanted a quality machine with low maintenance and long lifespan. I even deliberately chose a design (top loading with the drum supported from both sides) which I thought would be longer lasting.
You can see a picture of it here http://www.webswonder.co.uk/images/bosch-wok2001gb.jpg
In July 2003 the heating element failed, which cost me £75 to have replaced by a Bosch approved maintenence company.
In April 2005, the new heating element failed. It also turned out that the hose connecting the soap tray with the drum was faulty and it had to be replaced. Another bill of £95.82
We live in a soft water area, and only do one wash a day on average. There is no reason that I can see other than poor quality product and spares quality why these failures could have occurred.
I wrote to Bosch in April 2005 complaining about this and received the letter reproduced below, saying in essence, "not our fault Guv. If you want to protect against our products not working for more than a year, then take out insurance".
Not good enough Mr Bosch!
"Which?" Magazine maintains that only 19 per cent of new washing machines break down in the first 6 years. This machine has broken down twice in 4 years, so it must be amongst the least reliable on the market.
