Expensive Mistake
Bosch Classixx WAE28363. Bought this machine as it looked good and Bosch is supposed to be a good reliable make. It was fairly expensive and I was expecting it to last at least as long as my previous machines (Hotpoint, Servis, Hoover), all of which lasted a minimum of 10 years each. The beep was annoying but I managed to quieten that. The wash programmes were very long and the controls too sensitive - you only had to brush past to unintentionally alter the wash programme. The programmes were inflexible, e.g. with a short wash you only get a slow spin, and the "short wash" is not exactly short anyway. There is no small load function. This machine lasted 4 years before it started to play up - programmes taking much longer than usual, over 3 hours in one case. Then it stopped heating the water and therefore refused to move on from the wash cycle to the rinse cycle, so no spin either. The engineer found that the heater didn't have a problem, it was a faulty pcb that was preventing the water from heating. The callout fee was £60, and the repair would have been another £169. So almost as much as a new economy machine. I've gone for an AEG this time, again fairly expensive, but with a free 5-year guarantee. No more Bosch for me
