The Iron Worked Very Well. However, The Fact That
The iron worked very well. However, the fact that the resting plate for the iron is removable has proved to be a fatal menace. I put it on the ironing board. A visitor (who was used to using similar irons) switched on the iron, not realizing they should replace the iron rest, and it melted right through into the tank housing onto the electric wires! The whole thing had to be thrown away. There should be a heatproof cover as well as a removable iron rest: surely this must be a design fault? I'd be interested in hearing from the company.
Exactly the same happened to me. Left the on the housing tank in error and completely melted through. Very dangerous. Also the iron will not stand up on its end, so you have to use the resting plate all the time which is a bit of a pain. Had to throw away an iron that is just a few months old. Very unhappy and will not buy Bosch Iron again. Back to faithfull Phillips!

I Purchased A Bosch Tds2510gb Steam Generator Iron
I purchased a Bosch TDS2510GB Steam Generator Iron from Comet in January 2010 and although it works fine the removable iron pad is very unstable and my iron has, on several occasions, ended up on the floor. If you do not look where you are putting the iron, and place it VERY CAREFULLY on the pad, it can slip off and crash to the floor. The pad can be removed from the main unit but this is only helpful if you have somewhere to put the main unit which is close enough to the ironing board.
This is my third Steam Generator Iron (all different makes)and although they are very good at ironing they do not last as long as a basic steam iron.
