Had It 16 Years And Love It

I don’t know when some of the other comments were made in this site because they all seem to be saying it a rubbish machine.

I bought mine 16 years ago and at the time the the price was middle of the range for a digital machine.

I’ve service it myself regularly and apart from the odd bent pin which meant a change to the needle I have never had a single day’s problem and I probably use it for at least 40 weeks of the year.

The free thread that comes with it is fine for any normal sewing and has been so useful as it comes in so many colours.

I absolutely love the machine and although I’ve occasionally thought recently of upgrading think to myself WHY? If it is still doing all the things expected of it and we’ll why change?

Waste Of Money

I bought the Joys Homemaker machine because I didn’t have much money to spend on the more expensive branded name machine on the market. I wish I hadn’t!

After only 6 months the electrics started playing up and I tried to get in touch with Joys to sort it out. It was EXTREMELY difficult to get in touch and in the end I decided to take it straight to the workshop.

The address was EXTREMELY difficult to find and when I eventually found it I couldn’t get in. I had to ring the number constantly to get through to tell them I was outside the workshop. In the end I left it with them and then I had to pay to get it back!

It continued to play up, sometimes it would just sew on its own and I had to turn the machine off to control it.

Then the lead to the machine wouldn’t connect. I found the connection had gone ‘inside’ the machine and couldn’t be attached. I took it to a local machine supplier and he said it was unrepairable! He said he had others from Joys with the same problem.

So now I have a machine that is useless and I WISH I had waited and spent a bit more getting the reliable brand!

Dont Buy It Read The Reviews

I have purchased this machine as an art/textiles student. Since I have had it, it has never worked for me. The instructions (poorly written and misspelt) were not clear and extremely brief with only a few pictures to guide along. When buying a sowing machine I would advise to spend a little extra money, because with this machine you get what you pay for. Poor service from the company to match the poor machine.

These Machines Are Also Sold Under The Name Of App

These machines are also sold under the name of Apparel Craft Equipment (ACE) Ltd. This is just another name for Joys Sewing Machines. Many reviews can be found for Joys Sewing Machines and Apparel Craft Equipment (ACE) Ltd. You get what you pay for, so don't be surprised if you don't get a lot.

Will only buy decent brands in the future.

Such A Bad Bad Bad Service!!! Please

Such a bad bad bad service!!!

Please do not buy from this company!!! the service is absolutely awful.

I bought my 3 & 4 thread overlocker in march. When I received the parcel I was so excited and couldn't wait to get started on my projects that I had mounting up that I had it set up within 2 minutes of being handed the parcel by the postman.

So with much anticipation I turned on the "ON" switch.....only to find it had NO POWER!!!!

SO after 2 1/2 hours of calls and waiting on return calls I was told that the machine must have been damaged in transit.

Anywho's I was asked to return the sewing machine (paying a £25 deposit fee) for postage and they would fix it for me.

Pretty straight forward you would think......but oh no!!!! not for Joy's, JSM DISTRIBUTOR, Apc, Aeg, APPAREL EQUIPMENT GLOBAL LTD or whatever they are called. It took me 29 days to get the machine back and that was after reducing myself to tears down the phone.

They acted like it wasn't their fault I has a faulty machine and that it was taking them so long to mend it.

We told the unhelpful woman that we would want a full refund or we would report the company to trading standards for how we have been treated....funnily enough my repaired machine arrived the next day.

So now I am writing this review because it has happened all over again!!, the bloody machine broke on me....just went for no reason.

So I contacted them yesterday and asked them if they could send the courier to pick up my broken machine and that I would like to take advantage of my 10 year gaurentee, so she typed on her little keyboard and sent me an e-mail stating the gaurentee conditions.

This made me laugh!

The sewing machine would have to be returned in it's original box (a normal brown parcel box)or it would not be picked up by thier free courier service, so that was me already having to pay for the courier there and back. Then as I read further I noticed I would have to pay for the labour and any spare parts that the machine would need!...go figure!

Call that a free gaurentee?!

Please Please do not buy anything from this company....

I Have Had A New Industrial Walking Foot Sewing Ma

I have had a new industrial walking foot sewing machine from Joys.I've had it about 3 years now.

They did promise me some oil that was missing. A few other parts (coach bolts, cable ties, screws etc) were missing from the pack when it arrived but nothing I didn't have lurking in my workshop to enable me to replace them myself.

I built the machine and bought some more oil, they never did send me the oil despite their promises!

BUT I have found once you get used to it, it is fine, I have earnt ALOT of money from mine machining up piece work for my saddlery business on items I don't need to stitch by hand or if I did I would suffer from terminal boredom!.

It is fiece when you first use it and it runs off with you , no clutch control, 0-2000 stitches in less than a second!!!

So I use my hand on the flywheel as a clutch/brake to slow it down and a piece of foam under the foot/accelerator to act a governor and crude clutch control,it works. Maybe when people first use it as it is not "broken in" and it jams, all machinery when new will need a bedding in period to smooth off the rough edges of the machined parts and this could make it jam if it isn't done perhaps?

I found after many months of use it suddenly "gave in" and freed itself up nicely (I'd won the battle!!)and I can use it slowly without the use of a hand on the flywheel. The timing also may be out slightly on the machines that jammed and that could jam it up too.

Yes, they are cheaply made compared to what I normally used to use (Adler, Singer etc) but you get what you pay for . If you want the Rolls Royce of sewing machines then you have to pay for it!

IF you can live with it's little quirks and I can, it is a VERY good machine, they are made by Yamata made for Joys Sewing Machines and I would buy many of them if I had premises large enough to house them and a work force to use them. I would recommend them every time.

I Wish That I Had Read All The Reviews For The Joy

I wish that i had read all the reviews for the Joys sewing machines I also brought an overlocker to. Like everyone said do not touch these people at all they rip people off this is no lie. I have wasted a whole lot of money on two products from them which are worthless. They have know changed names and are calling them selves AEG SEWING MACHINES not to get mixed up with the good AEG company out there that sells televisions etc, I have seen so many complaints against them any other place would be shut down so be warned if you want to be left with a pile of useless junk!

I purchased my machine 6 years ago and It works properly. I have nothing to say against them

jendora

I found this review very helpful because it warns potential customers not to buy the rubbish this company sells. The 10 year guarantee is a complete nonsence. I recently returned my overlocker for repair and I was charged the cariage both ways. Upon its return and within 10 mins of testing it out, it has broken again!

Jsm Distributor Direct - Pf 80001 Well What C

JSM Distributor Direct - PF 80001

Well what can I say. I would not touch this company with a bargepole and I wished that I had looked up on reviews before I purchased a machine from them. I was sucked in by good and excellent reviews they showed on their own website. The first machine I had recieved off them just did not sew at all so I returned it for repair and after around 3 months and many calls speaking to very unhelpful and not nice people and finally a personal visit by myself and my husband I got another machine about a week later but, only after I threatened them with Trading Standards and BBC Watchdog. I was told by a local sorce to the company that JSM have many problems and have various authorities looking in to them, lets hope this is right and that this company is brought to a stop at ripping the public off. When I was having my problems with them I did get in touch with Consumer Rights and I found that I did not recieve much support from them either and so I have a second machine of JSM's. I have used it for a couple of tomes just for simple jobs, it seems to be very tempremental and I hate the thought of using it and yet I am a qualified sewing machinest and have always used sewing machines since I was a young teenager. I WOULD DEFINETLY NOT RECCOMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. DON'T SAY THAT YOU WAS NOT WARNED.

You Might As Well Rip Up Fifty Pound Notes. It Cer

You might as well rip up fifty pound notes. It certainly would not be so frustrating. Your Joys Homemaker machine will spend months in their factory supposedly being repaired.

How do I thread the bobbin under the needle?

jenlol

Does Jays sewing machines still exist? I am trying to get a user manual for the PF7001 and I think it is impossible.

Hollyb3n

My machine PF8001 has been in a cupboard for about 15 yrs! I am to retire next month after 50 years in the workplace. Knowing what to do with all this spare time got me pulling my machine out of "hibernation" intending to use it to its full potential!

However I have forgotten even how to thread the bobbin. I did have instructions and turned my house upside down to NO avail. Is it possible for me to buy the instructions? Also, I may need to overhaul the machine as it has been so long in a cupboard. Do they sell the piece that covers the bobbin it's missing?

Sorry to be rambling on but am eager to start dressmaking again.
