Whirlpool ADP4501

We bought this machine secondhand a couple of years ago, and been very pleased with it. Contrary to the other 'rubbish' reviews, have found it reliable, reasonably quiet and does a fine job of cleaning - despite that we tend to fill it to the brim! We do rinse plates before loading, and periodically clear the filter screens, though.

It's only once had a problem (after I'd moved it to clean the floor, and kinked the water supply hose), having given the flashing-light error code and shut down until I could find out, online, what the problem was. (holding down the 'start' button then cleared the error code).

This machine was the replacement for our previous Zanussi - what a mistake!

It had to be loaded carefully from the start, not to stop breakage...but to ensure it would wash the plates/dishes.

The top of the unit cracked within six months. The spray jets were continually blocking, event though dishes rinsed under tap before entering the washer.

I was drawn to the unit as 'whirlpool' appeared to be a reputable brand.

I would have liked an honest review before I bought...

Avoid at all costs!

This dishwasher never dried properly, when I called the engineer out about this problem he advised I used salt, cleaning powder and rinse individually instead of the five in one tablets I was using. This did not solve the problem. If that is the optimal way to use this machine why bother having the option of 3 in 1 and 5 in 1 tablet on the machine in the first place. The machines washing capability was also poor. Mine too is now ready for the landfill less then two years old. How this machine got past quality control I will never know, in my opinion it was not fit for purpose. My replacement will not be a whirlpool.

After eight months the Whirlpool machine went wrong, and seven months later and after five visits they still cannot get it working. The engineers that called were laughable, they did not even carry a test meter with them. After diagnosing a fault he returned with the part five weeks later and said it was not that part it was another, quote "what idiot ordered that part", it was you we replied, oh well we all get things wrong! Anyway seven months later and with three new parts fitted it worked once and has now stopped again. IT IS NOW LANDFILL. Maybe he government should crack down on incompetent service companies.
