Morphy Richards 48950 10.57 Cups Food Processor

I bought a Morphy Richards 48950 CHOP food processor because I needed an appliance with a bigger bowl. I decided to buy this particular food processor because I already had the blender and was very pleased with that, and also because I needed something that would clutter neither my cupboards nor my counter and this food processor doesn't have thousands of attachments that I wouldn't use and comes with a rectangular storage box that you can easily fit in a drawer or on a shelf. I like the fact that it has a blade guard both for the main blade and for the smaller one to use with the mini bowl, so that you are not likely to cut yourself and the blades are protected from damage. So what's in the box? The main bowl, of course, which holds 2,5l, the chopping blade and a plastic dough blade, a fine and a coarse reversible slicing/shredding disk and a large julienne disk that you can use to make chips, a whipping attachment and the 0,5l mini bowl and blade you can use for smaller items, such as herbs, or a half onion. All of these attachments, a part from the mini blade and the whip, have to be fitted on a detachable drive shaft that, in its turn, fits onto the fixed shaft. I tried most of the functions and I am very satisfied with the results: shortcrust pastry in minutes, shredded courgettes, cheese, chopped onions in seconds. The motor is really very quiet, even when chopping harder items, or kneading pastry. Its 700W allow it to process almost anything without too much effort.The parts are easy to assemble and easy to clean, even if they are not dishwasher safe.I have not tried the julienne disk or the whip yet, so I can't tell, but I have a mixer for whipping cream or egg whites,so I am not likely to need this function soon.The base is heavy cast metal, so it doesn't jump around on the counter while you are using it, but it also means that it is better to have it ready, rather than to have to drag it out of a cupboard, however it looks very nice in the kitchen.It has one speed plus pulse, which seems poor, but I find it performs well in all tasks, it seems to be able to adapt its speed to whatever it's required and the pulse function aloows for greater control over the final texture. All in all I think it was a great purchase. It was also selected in the five Best Buys of Which? magazine.
